At Sussex Hypnotherapy we will always start with a conversation to discuss the problem and to explain in plain English how the therapy will go. Only when you are happy will we go on to the hypnosis. Unusually, we like to combine hypnotherapy with some other 'talking' disciplines; sometimes coaching can be hugely beneficial either on its own or in combination with hypnotherapy. We also take a view that help should be available long-term, and so we can discuss a mentoring programme to help you continue to make the kind of progress you want to see in your life and career.

It's a bit of a catchall word for all the stresses and pressures that life can throw at us. When things get tough; through bereavement, job loss, relationship issues or any of the countless things that can undermine us mentally and emotionally, what we end up feeling is Anxiety.

Everyone is different, and everyone will respond in their own ways to different situations, but increasingly over the past couple of years anxiety has been the number one reason people have given for visiting my hypnotherapy clinic.It's important to recognise that in most people the problem is a circular one; person A feels stressed and anxious about something.
Steve is trained in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming*), CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy*) and is a fully qualified hypnotherapist accredited by the General Hypnotherapy Council and holding diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Parts Therapy, Steve is a highly experienced practitioner, coaching within large organisations such as the NBA, Ipsos MORI and Equinix, working with sportsmen and women across a number of disciplines and levels using a blend of hypnotherapy and coaching, and helping individuals combat a wide range of issues and problems such as phobias and fears, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, PTSD and stress-related illnesses.
Hypnotherapy is simply a means of achieving a state of deep relaxation, which in turn allows the unconscious mind to be highly receptive to positive influences and suggestions. The subject is fully in control at all times, just very deeply relaxed. At the end of a session most people feel physically refreshed and mentally motivated, as though they have experienced a really good sleep.
Training in both CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and coaching means that we can start the process of fixing what's wrong by engaging in a constructive dialogue; steering the direction of the conversation through focussed questioning and by being able and willing to listen acutely to what is being said - both in spoken terms and in the non-verbal communication that carries so much meaning.
While coaching and hypnotherapy might be what you would expect to find on the website of any hypnotherapist, you might not expect to find mentoring there too. However, at Sussex Hypnotherapy we don't like to think that the treatment needs to stop when you walk out the door. In certain cases we encourage our clients to keep in touch with us to ensure that the problem - whatever it might be -doesn't recur.
