Dale Barter BVSc MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon, has worked as a vet in London for over 20 years. He established the Amwell Veterinary Practice in 1997. He believes that by keeping the Practice small he can offer a personal and high quality service to his clients and their pets. Margaret Lamont, Practice Manager, has worked in the Practice since it opened in 1997 providing reception and nursing support whenever it is needed.

After his first employment as a field veterinarian on a Foot and Mouth and Rinderpest Vaccination Programme in the Sultanate of Oman he moved to London to develop his skills in small animal practice. In the process of discovering that London was the place to work he gained a wealth of experience in a number of provincial practices from Norfolk to Wales.

Called up and said my cat was very ill constant vomiting and lethargic, was told by a man on the phone to send an email and they will get back to me, so waited the whole day for vets to get back to me and nothing!, now I'm worried about my cat and may very well have to go else where out of hours, totally disgusting!, clearly don't care much about animals, I hope you sleep well knowing there is a very sick cat!, I had been warned by people about this place, but I didn't think it could be that bad, looks like they were right about the reviews all family and friends, must be!, I work in a Hospital

After endless phone calls to find a vet who would actually bother to look at my old hamster instead of charging £50 for a phone consultation, having heard the issue Amwell Practice booked me within the hour. Totally affordable and only a few minutes later I went back home with a much happier rodent. Thank you.

I run a doggy daycare and puppy groups and I recommend Dale and Margaret to everyone. They are salt of the earth kind of people who see their job as their mission, really treating every animal as an individual. They are an independent practice which means that they are not affiliated with any pharma, stocking all types of vaccines etc so your pup would never have to start all over again in order for the practice to reach quotas sold. They have given me lots of training advice, even sent me home with reading to do! MASSIVE 5 stars from us at Hackney Hounds

Today was Dexter's first visit to Amwell. The purpose of the visit was to get a refill of Loxicom and since we are new to the area and to the surgery, the vet wanted to check Dex out. No problemo.
Our visit was free; all new patients are given a free consultation. So, that's awesome.
Both the woman running "front of house" and the vet were super nice and smiley. I learned that the surgery is a one-man show which means the vet works a ton of hours! The surgery is super clean. Like super duper clean.
His bedside manner was awesome. Dexter is generally not a huge fan of vet

I found this veterinary practice on Yelp based on an older review, and hoped that all the facts still rung true. My luck (and Tillie's!) they certainly did.
My pup is getting on in years, and that comes with its own set of challenges. I wanted to have her throughly checked out to make sure nothing was terribly amiss before we left on a long trip. I easily and quickly made an appointment with the very polite receptionist and was booked in for a Friday evening appointment.

The folks running the show here are incredibly professional and full of love for animals. They were so kind when helping us cope with the loss of a family pet and have been incredibly helpful now that we have a new set of kittens. We chose them because their office is close to our flat, but even if I lived in another part of London, I strongly consider keeping them as our vets.
