Our menu is predominantly British but we sometimes have a European influence running throughout with hints of France, Italy and Spain. The a la carte is our staple menu which changes regularly with the seasons but it is the specials boards which really are the pulse of the menu allowing the creativity of our chefs to shine.
We are really passionate about quality, traditional cooking; with recipes that do and have stood the test of time. Our Beef Wellington is one of our best sellers. It never fails to disappoint and we have guests travelling a distance just to savour our wellie. Apparently its legendary! We bring you a menu full to the brim of classic dishes with a modern twist.

Services
You can dine outside from March until October (weather permitting) at The House restaurant. Our 60 seater terrace is situated in a beautiful secluded, very charismatic, pedestrianised square in The Lanes. It's perfect for enjoying your meal with us in the fresh air listening to the fantastic musicians that play throughout the summer.
This place is a great discovery. I'm not a steak connoisseur but this was the best steak I've ever eaten. I had a fillet steak and my partner had a sirloin steak, both were cooked to perfection. We both had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, the sauce was delicious. The surroundings are cosy and the staff efficient and polite.

Lovely place to eat in The Lanes in Brighton. Food is freshly cooked and tasty!
I had the salmon which was delicious. Two of my party opted for the Beef Wellington which looked equally delicious and the portions were generous. Served with a lovely red wine this was a real treat. Service was attentive and altogether made for a delightful evening!

Absolutely loved it here! It's so cosy and cute, we sat in the little nook in the alcove and had the king prawns & parma ham for starters, Chicken Supreme, Rib Eye Steak for mains and chocolate and almond torte for dessert. I cannot fault anything here, it was completely delicious, perfectly cooked and the service was spot on, will 100% come back. 5 stars from us!!

Unfortunately our experience of The House Restaurant was not a happy one. We had a look at the menu, which looked great, asked the wait if a table for two and a dog was available, he said yes and showed us to a table outside.
Before we sat down we made the waiter aware that my partner has a tree nut and peanut allergy. The waiter then said unfortunately we cannot guarantee our meals are nut free……my partner stated if the kitchen are aware then they can wipe everything downto stop any cross-contamination. To which the waiter responded ‘unfortunately we cannot guarantee our meals

I went there, two years ago & had mouthwatering dishes from there.
Two years on due to covid & so many lockdowns, we revisited, this lovely Restaurant. As you can see in the photos, the food here is Glorious. The staff are very polite, the drinks, the food are top notch, it was/is well worth the wait.

Me and my partner came here while on holiday for a nice meal out. While the service was good and the food came out really fast, some aspects did let it down a little. The steak was not the best of steaks a little tough and unevenly cooked, as-well as this it came with nothing. It is £20 for literally just the steak to we had to pay and extra £8 just for some chips and a sauce. The chips were absolutely amazing thick crispy triple cooked however the cheese sauce had a weird consistency and was a lump of cheese at the bottom. In saying this the meal of the day which was a sea bream and prawn dish

We both had fillet steak which was cooked perfectly to how we each like it (medium rare, and medium), it had great flavour too so compliments to the chef and the butcher.
We had a few sides to share which was spot on - Garlic mushrooms which were lovely, along with some fries and a bowl of rocket with grated cheese.
We had a few cocktails which were very nice.
Our waitress/host was very good, we were aware there is a lack of staff in this industry right now so forgave any delays as it’s not their fault, so if you visit please bare this in mind.
We chose to sit inside as being Brighton on

Outdoor area so disappointing with cheap plastic chairs and worn out. Probably the worst fish and chips I ve had. Especially at that price. Had been fried several times and was so dry and flavourless same as the chips. I think the picture speaks for itself. Only positive I have to say I about the place is that the staff were really lovely and attentive! 5 stars to them. Definetely not going back.

Lovely setting outside under some trees. Perfect for a lazy sunny lunch.
Food was ok. Nothing stand out unfortunately. We had the fish and chips and steak, king prawn and squid dishes. The fish and chips were average at best. The triple cooked chips were hit and miss, some perfect and others hard in the center like day old roast potatoes. The fish was slightly overcooked and the batter was ok, below average from other fish and chips we've had. The steak was cooked as ordered but again pretty average tasting, the prawns were not the freshest and the squid was delicious.
Doubt we'll

The House is such a great restaurant tucked away in a corner of the South Laines.
The menu is diverse and reasonably priced. My husband ordered this Chicken Madeira dish with potatoes and I had the House Bouillabaisse and we were not disappointed! Our dishes were full of flavour and warmth.
Service also was amazing and courteous. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed which we appreciated on a Friday night in Brighton.
We've had a Sunday roast here before and were absolutely impressed with the quality and quantity of food!
Will definitely come back to The House again soon.

This a really individual place that just oozes charm and character. Its an old converted house so you do get the feeling your in someones home which I think is really nice.
I had a fantastic sirloin steak here which was cooked to absolute perfection and served with equally high standard service.
The menu does change on a regular basis depending on the produce they can obtain fresh but there's plenty to chose from and it all comes out looking and tasting excellent.

The House is very tastefully arranged. It's quite a small space (it has a big outdoor bit on the square where you can listen to busking over your lunch special) but they haven't crammed the tables in which makes it very comfortable and surprisingly airy. It is House size, hence the name, and the layout and design reflects this. I didn't go upstairs but perhaps they have a breakfast-in-bed arrangement going on. The food was beautifully presented and the portions just the right size for a starter, main and dessert. This is a good place to get your steaks in with sirloin and fillet

The House is situated in the original Lanes of Brighton, its can be found tucked away behind East Street square with all the outside seating through out summer, (they also have a large portion of the seating). Through out the winter diners sit in an old converted house which still feels very much like your in a living room, but has a very modern minimal decor.
Its a very dimly lite and romantic venue so would be great for dates...but maybe not a first date as each room only seats 10ish people so the awkward silences could be made unbearably obvious. They do deals through out the winter so its

The House is traditional high-quality British dining, with a Mediterranean twist thrown in. While not necessarily the most interesting meal, nor the most value-for-money dining experience, the location is absolutely exceptional, and well worth the price in the summer months.
I should start by saying that I have never been inside The House itself. It simply hasn't appealed to me: some friends complain it is drafty, others that it is a little cramped... Indeed, from the outside I cannot imagine sitting inside is truly worth it. While the food is cooked to a high standard, and is clearly made

The House is a really individual venue, as a converted Victorian house when dining inside your literally sat in what used to be a living room. Situated right on the Lanes square on East Street, the House is one of lucky local restaurants that has considerable outdoor sitting on the square. In the summer months its a great place to soak in the street performers and passers by.
They have some excellent offers sometimes. particularly in the winter as the restaurant can be a bit hidden and lose custom. I enjoyed the dine free on your birthday offer last year!

Good food, but appallingly slow service!
This little restaurant is in a converted town house tucked away down a lane in Brighton. The menu is small but interesting, a modern European mix of British and Italian cooking. For some reason their lunch menu with specials is more interesting than their dinner menu, but the food is still very good.
However, the rickety wooden floors on both storeys mean that your dinner is accompanied by a certain noise level and wobbly ground sensation, which does not add to the pleasure of eating! When we went there were only two guys (the owners) working, and
