Robert Purdom, Banker, and Solicitor, plus two other gentlemen, Charles Taylor, Teacher, and John Manuel, Burgh Surveyor, founded Hawick Golf Club in 1877. These gentlemen applied to the town council for the privilege of utilising a portion of the Vertish Hill as a golf course. This was accepted as long as no damage was done!
This old and well established Golf Club has a very interesting clubhouse to match. Hawick Golf Clubhouse was extensively remodelled in 1996, and has just undergone a further, stunning refurbishment of the dining room and lounges. Bar and restaurant facilities are available throughout the season.

From the moment you enquire about your visit, our professional staff will deal with all of your requirements to ensure everything goes smoothly. If you arrive by car there is ample car parking space at the Club. You can relax and enjoy your day safe in the knowledge that everything has been taken care of.

Played Hawick today. When I saw the course from the road in I thought OMG, but we we're very pleasantly surprised. The course is in very good condition considering the weather lately and we really enjoyed it. Ate in the clubhouse after, food was very good and the staff were lovely. We would definitely GI back.

Our society travels some 60 miles to this course whenever possible as it is without doubt one of the most testing and unusual in the region. Every hole is unique , it is in excellent condition (weather permitting) and we have enjoyed ourselves immensely over the years. The clubhouse is very welcoming the food and drink are great value. As ever we look forward to our next visit.
