Lovely welcoming host Niel made us feel right at home. We stayed here for our honeymoon 12 years ago and decided to come back again and the Holly Lodge has been totally renovated and was spotless and very clean. Stunning grounds to sit on the balcony to watch the swans swimming. Overall the host could not do enough to help so I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone visiting York as the location is central to most of Yorkshire.

Amazing place! Both the lake and the cabins are gorgeous, friendly wildlife, and very gracious hosts. Lovely place to stay for a weekend. Definitely enjoyed the hot tub too, very warm in the winter weather 😍
We did have a bit of trouble with the TV as it wouldn’t power on using the remote but once we switched it on at the side, the remote worked fine. The trains were a little noisy too but no big deal. Other than that, no downsides!

Lovely surroundings but very close to railway line so you can hear the trains. Also there lodges back on to a housing estate. Easy access to York center by bus. Lodge 7 is a bit small and needs updating also disappointed that it's semi detached and the walls are so thin, the hot tub is big but not very private. Clean, sofa very uncomfortable so could not relax,

We will not be returning again. Double the price per week and much less for your money. Not worth the visit, much better places around to stay at! Just returned home after a disappointing week away. We've been coming here for nearly 15 years, and This is the first visit since the new owners of York lakeside lodges took over last year. And can say that things have gone downhill. We arrive with no welcome from anyone not even to check in, in fact we didn't see anyone apart from a gardener/ groundsman all week, not even when we checked out, in the end we just drove off, phone goes to voicemail everytime

We visited the lodges for our 30th wedding anniversary and first time we had been here.
Fantastic location and only 10 minutes away from centre , easy enough to get bus for 2.50 each way or taxi for 10 each way.
I feel tho as we have stayed in other lodges in other areas that there was no personal touches as we have experienced in previous lodges in particular as it was a special occasion which I had informed them on booking. I was disappointed that towels were not included as in other lodges they are provided as well as spa towels for the hot tub. The bathroom in the lodge (10 Oak) was in need

Stayed in Beech 6 for 2 nights Lovely location , very handy for the city centre and Tesco. Very clean and tidy lodges. Was very pleased to see our hot tub being emptied and cleaned as we departed from our short stay. Only fault I could find was bedroom smelt a bit “doggy” could do with carpet being replaced with laminate.

Could not fault the surroundings , beautiful. Location fantastic to explore York. We were in lodge rowan 3. Spacious, cosy and reasonably clean, however when I went looking for a mop to soak up some water foot… prints, it is clear that cleaning items need to be checked and replaced. Some furniture could do with being replaced also in near future, however I still think it was good value and we enjoyed our stay. No instruction or welcome booklet to explain or give useful information. However luckily we met the very helpful Pete who helped us out with some teething issues. Young lad we met

We booked a 7 night stay here and must say it is a beautiful peaceful place. We was in number 9, lovely cabin had everything you need for your stay. The hot tub was great 😁( but will say, the off switch is outside ! turn it off at night and turn it back on in the morning otherwise the noise keeps you awake. ) The lady who runs the place Antonia, lovely lady and very helpful, and for comments made that you cannot get hold of her I disagree!! If I was unable to get her by phone I sent her a text and she replied. she explained that the whole place is needing a lot of work and she is upgrading not

Lodges recently renovated to good standard. Hot tub with each lodge which were regularly serviced.
Fishing pretty dire. Weedy lake, platforms need attention (planned for end of the season). Fish very wary. Gin clear water.
Will be a good place when lake is sorted.
Has been under new owner for only 12 months and time is needed to bring this place up to date. If this is done will be worthy of higher score.
Local bus service to York, Tesco Superstore just down the road. Choice of pubs locally
