Please be patient with our staff, General Practice is experiencing high levels of demand at the moment. The time you wait for us to respond to your phone call or query may be longer than usual but we are trying to get to you as quickly as possible. Prescriptions can be ordered via online access, or email using our generic email address warccg.fearnheadcrossfax@nhs.net, prescriptions can also be posted in the letter box outside either Surgery.
Services
Both Fearnhead Cross Medical Centre and Longford Street Surgery operate an appointment system for GPs, practice nurses and all associated clinics. Patients are able to make a pre-bookable appointment with a GP or nurse clinician up to four weeks in advance. All other appointments for GPs or nurse clinician are on a book on the day basis and cannot be booked in advance.
This is an online service that is available 24/7 and allows you to contact your GP for help and advice. It will ask you to fill out a form asking you questions about your condition, symptoms or details of a request for administrative help, such as a sick note or a GP letter. You will then be contacted with a response by the end of the next working day.
Sometimes it may not be necessary for you to make a doctor's appointment if you feel that a Practice Nurse could help you or give you advice. We have a telephone advice line operated by one of our Practice Nurse's or Clinical Pharmacist each day. If however they feel as though you should consult with a doctor, they will organise the appointment for you.
Our Extended Hours Clinics are held outside of our normal opening hours. The Clinics are available with GP's, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. We will now also offer an early morning clinic which will be held from 6.30am - 8.00am, again this will be held over both Surgery's.
Home visits are for patients whose physical condition makes it impossible for them to come to surgery. We do not undertake home visits for social reasons i.e. lack of transport. Requests for home visits should be made by 10.30am where possible by calling the Surgery and pressing option 3. The receptionist will take your details and you will receive a triage call from a Clinician before a home visit is made.

Someone's more concerned with keeping the line busy all day than anything else. Been trying all day (every minute) and not once has it been free. If you can't even get through then there's no chance of an appointment or treatment.

A good surgery, but ...
After being patients for nearly 40 years (and having had excellent medical service throughout), we were in the middle of a house move recently and actively looking for an alternative surgery, so changed our address details online.
I have to say we were particularly insulted by the callous wording of the practice's letter informing us, effectively, that we were now no longer welcome, and needed to move to another surgery within 28 days.
You could benefit from changing the wording of such letters in future, to reflect a good level of customer care, even to departing patients

Unable to even get a telephone appointment if you work. Finish work at 4pm but they will only make an appointment from 2pm and cannot set a time after 4pm therefore you would have to take a day off work just for the telephone consultation then potentially another day off work for a face to face. This system does not help working people. In the current economic climate this is ludicrous.

Absolute joke of a surgery im a high risk asthmatic and haven't been a to get a appointment in over a year they are rude and unhelpful staff are a disgrace I've been waiting for forms i urgently need filling in for over 2 weeks they haven't even attempted it absolute joke unhelpful arrogant uncaring surgery 🤬🤬🤬🤬
