We have been a family run opticians since 1988 when Turgay and Anne Hassan-Hicks bought the practice in St Thomas St at the top of Lymington High Street. Mr and Mrs Hassan-Hicks met as students in London and both qualified as Fellows of the Association of Dispensing Opticians and Members of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers in 1981.
With over 25 years of experience as a practicing dispensing and contact lens optician, Mr Hassan-Hicks further qualified in 2008 as an Optometrist, BSc (Hons), Mc OPTOM. Our daughter Lora (Mrs Hassan-Green) joined us a fully qualified optometrist in 2011 and has brought with her a fresh eye for evolving technologies as well as a keen interest in the fashion of designer frames.

Sunglasses protect the eyes as well as providing comfortable relief from glare, they also look good. Wearing sunglasses with a high quality lens can reduce the amount of harmful UV light entering the eyes. This can help to reduce a person's risk of developing macular degeneration. Sunglasses can also help to reduce glare for those who are light sensitive and particularly for patients developing cataracts where extreme glare can be debilitating.
For many people, contact lenses can provide the best way of correcting vision. They provide the freedom to engage in sports and other activities as well as removing the need to wear spectacles full time. Finding the correct contact lenses for you is vital and we will work with you to ensure your contact lenses are comfortable as well as providing the best possible vision.
Spectacles must look good as well as correct vision so at Hassan-Hicks we have carefully selected the most attractive and elegant frames that will complement the face as well as delivering your prescription with precision. We can of course provide additional frames that we do not already have in stock from our extensive catalogues.
Single vision - straightforward distance, reading prescriptions or specific working distances. Bifocal - which combine two prescriptions, such as distance and reading, intermediate and reading or distance and intermediate. With more complex lenses - bifocal and varifocals - there are some people who get on better with bifocals whilst others are better suited to varifocals.
We provide a range of eye and sight tests and examinations designed both to find the correct prescription for spectacles or contact lenses and to pick up any developing eye conditions, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration as well as many others. Eye examinations can often detect developing ocular conditions, sometimes long before they present any obvious symptoms to the patient.

For several years (and particularly this year) I have been dealing with headaches and dizziness (along with anxiety driving and other things). I though there was something wrong with my eyes but went to several highstreet opticians and was told my sight was fine.
This October I went to Hassan Hicks for a full check up and it turns out I am shortsighted! I received my glasses today and everything is so much clearer. I am so happy to finally have my issues listened to and to have a solution.

Mr Hassan Hicks is excellent The whole team are lovely and it is a very pleasant experience to go there. Thanks to Mr Hassan Hicks a serious problem with my eye was spotted and dealt with. He was very reassuring and positive, as well as explaining it in a way I could understand. The best opticians around.

I'm delighted to be able to write this review, for years I’ve had an eye condition called keratoconus. It caused massive discomfort and I’ve seen various "specialists" over the years but never felt entirely happy with my vision. For the last 5 years I’ve suffered from severe migraines, they were so bad I couldn't describe the pain. I saw my GP who was very unhelpful saying "there's nothing we can do for migraines".
