We are an independent family business based in Skipton but serving a far wider area. The company was founded by Brook Smith in 1955 as a joiners and funeral directors and today the company is run by Howard and Susan his son and daughter in law, having now evolved into a funeral directors and memorial business.

Susan, having trained and worked as a nurse for some years is now the leading funeral director, since qualifying in 1992 and Howard looks after the monumental side of the business. From it's humble beginnings on Bunkers Hill it is has grown over the years and is one of the most modern and well equiped funeral services in Skipton.
Services
Is the service and cremation to take place at the crematorium or will there be a church service first. The services at the crematorium take place every 40 minutes and the service time should be 20 minutes allowing time for you to be seated in the chapel and leaving the chapel where you can meet people after the service.
Death is something that we would rather not think about at the best of times. Nobody want to contemplate their own death. Nevertheless, anyone with a practical frame of mind will be reluctant to let their family bear the burden of funeral expenses. That is why it make sense to consider the option of a pre-paid funeral plan.
From Churchyard memorials which have to comply with the Diocesean regulations to a hand crafted Victorian style memorial, the choice is huge and we can personally talk you through your options.

Once you have made a decision you will be sent a copy of the wording and type of memorial chosen for confirmation of the details, following this the relevant documents will be completed and submitted to either the church minister or the local authority for their consent. If you would like further information please don't hesitate to contact us.
You may wish to scatter the ashes in the wildflower meadow or inter in a plot at Tarn Moor memorial woodland. You may wish to purchase a grave just for the purpose of interring the cremated remains. This allows you to have a headstone and have other members of the family buried there in the future.
