The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.
GP hub appointments: Karis Medical Centre is also part of the myhealthcare federation of practices in Birmingham. This allows our receptionists to book evening and weekend, GP and nurse appointments at our local hub in Harborne. Patients needing medical services outside surgery hours are covered by the Birmingham wide services for Out of Hours care.
These are the GPs based at Karis Medical Centre who work alongside a full team of clinical and non-clinical staff within the heart of Birmingham. The practice also has one or two GP Registrars who are doctors completing GP training. Please try and stay with one doctor to help provide the benefits of continuity of care.
The Patient Practice Group (PPG) at Karis Medical Centre was set up in 2011 to understand the views of patients on the services that the Practice offered. The group reviews everything from access to the services, to local health needs, to the effect of the changes in the NHS on the practice.

It is an open membership group that encourages involvement and attendance from all areas of the practice community- all patients registered at Karis Medical Centre are eligible to be part of the Patient Group. We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive our surgery and staff.

Terrible terrible reception who speak to patients like they owe them a favour. You ask to speak to the practice manager who never calls you back. I order prescriptions and have had to call back as items are missing. Staff have been confrontational or many occasions. Why would anyone want to be on this doctors books and be treated like this. Staff need training on basic communication skills and basic manners. I think it would be hat to start at the very simply please and thank you and work up from that level.

The doctors are very polite and nice when meeting them, if you meet them. I would say it is a good place, but the way how you have wait half an hour on the phone just to get saying "the doctor will call you today", even though I needed an actual face to face appointment. It is understandable than their staff is busy due to corona. However how they treat your phone calls to book something is just not as good as it should be. By the time when you will get an actual appointment though phone is either later on the same day, that is if you health condition actually needs an appointment, or the week

This is a really good GP, highly recommend going here if you live in the area. They try to let you be seen by the same doctor each time, which is really good especially for chronic conditions. Also, after having been not believed and treated really rude by my previous GP (do NOT go to the uni medical practice) this gp finally believes me and helps me get the right diagnosis and care. The receptionist are also really helpful and friendly. Overall just a really good GP

Outstanding Practice
I feel privileged that I belong to this practice, especially during these uncertain times with COVID. Having been a patient of Doctor Schoen for over 15 years I have found her to be both attentive ,caring , knowledgeable...that goes for all the doctors there. In addition surgery is only as good as their support staff the nurses deserve a special mention as do the front desk and reception. The latter who in an extremely busy practice always have a smile to greet you on attending whether it be 7.30am or 18.29pm they have impossible job with a practice managing at the high end

Worst clinic. When you call about a deterioration in health, the doctor laughs in the face, continue the same treatment. And when you can't sleep at night because of a swallen, red throat, loss of voice due to tonsillitis or some other virus, it becomes not funny. At what exacerbation do they prescribe treatment? Looking for a private doctor again or going to the ambulance again? Just thank you !

I never had a bad experience with them until recently. The interaction I had with one of the doctors was so negative and horrible. This is why some people choose not to take their health seriously so that they can avoid situations like the one I had.

I've had the most frustrating two months trying to get a referral from this practice to the imaging department at the hospital. Every time I call the surgery they give me different information, not informative or supportive of the process what so ever. It's not been 2 months and there is still no record of my referral at the hospital. I've had two seperate doctors appointments in which they tell me the referral will be sorted. Today I called the surgery to find out it only went through last week, although I have been speaking to a doctor for over 6 weeks now and that I might have to wait a further

I love this surgery, for years I HATED going to the doctor and making doctor appointments. Then I joined Karis, receptionists are super friendly, doctor is super super helpful (the sort that goes out of there way to help), my lifelong illness is getting better and I feel more in control. Dr Fatima and Joy, you make people feel OK to get in touch and get help when you need it. I really can't thank you enough!
