Upper Rectory is a small friendly restaurant in Berriew, near Welshpool in Powys run by Les Routiers award winning chef/proprietor Kerry Huber with seating for groups of 2 up to 20 people on simply laid tables opening Thursday to Saturday evenings by reservation.
Our unique selling point is that the restaurant is within our home making it intimate and welcoming and that we were the original "Tasting Menu Only" supper club serving 7 courses, highlighting the management of food waste and green ethics. At 35.00 per person the menu can be experienced at a leisurely pace, as your table is yours for the entire evening.

My husband and I had the UR@home valentines menu this weekend. WOWZER!! The food was incredible - I could've eaten the appetisers all day long, they were Amazing! Not only is the food fantastic, but the timings and temperature instructions are so simple, so easy to use and so well thought about that you can heat your main course in the oven at the same temperature with just different timings. Everything about it was perfect. The little treat of gingerbread and marmalade were lovely too. How lucky are we to have this wonderful restaurant on our doorstep!

We spent 4 perfect nights at the shepherds hut, Berriew. It offers the best combination back to basics with a modern twist. Everything was there that you required, including a kitchen, Seating with a fire pit, BBQ gas or coal fired. The accommodation was warm and cosy with a log burner if required. The wet room was amazing, which was improved with a short meander with great views. Berriew village is a short walk away along the canal with 2 pubs, village shop, tea rooms and local butchers. The afternoon tea provided by the tea rooms was exquisite. There is also a local art museum. Amazing value and

Our first visit to this little gem of a place certainly didn't disappoint. From the moment we walked through the door the attention to detail was amazing. Every course we ate was so flavoursome..our favourite being the Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé with the Welsh Rarebit Sauce and the Fillet of Pork stuffed with Wild Garlic We'll certainly be recommending Upper Rectory to friends and family and will definitely be returning ourselves. Thanks to Vicky our host who did a fabulous job of looking after us for the evening.

Very unusual little restaurant which allows for a very personal and interesting dining experience. The food was absolutely fantastic - obviously made fresh, with care and sourcing local produce - and at less than £30 per person for a 7 course tasting menu it was worth every penny. Good wine selection too. I will definitely be going back!

This is probably one of my favourite restaurants to visit. The warmth and friendliness you'd expect from a family-run restaurant but the exquisite food that seduces your taste buds, leading them course-by-course down the winding road of sheer heavenly indulgence. I tell all my friends to visit this charming restaurant if they're in the area - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and am only sorry it's not closer to London as I'd love to visit it more often!
