Services
Our history dates back to Victorian Era Newcastle, where a young Frederick Robson established F. Robson & Co. on Dean Street in 1867. Originally, the work mainly involved the manufacture of measuring equipment such as slide rules and barometers. However, the introduction of the NHS in the 1940s, and NHS-funded sight care along with it, changed the primary focus of the business towards the more familiar supply of spectacles that is seen today.
We offer a wide range of eye treatments for all age groups, with a particular emphasis on issue prevention. Eye Examinations are the foundation of everything we do. That's why at Robson Opticians, every clinical examination is carried out by one of our GOC registered Optometrists, not support staff.
No mass produced take-it-or-leave-it designs - they give you the design, details and materials you prefer. LINDBERG have won dozens of prestigious design awards and their patented technical innovations has allowed them to do away with all non-essentials such as screws, rivets and welds. This means LINDBERG frames are incredibly strong and flexible - yet among the lightest and most comfortable in the world.
She wears frames by Ronit Furst who produce some of the most quirky, unique specatcles in the world. Each frame is hand painted and given a special coating to protect the design, making each one unique. Brilliant opticians in the centre of Newcastle!
I recently switched from a chain optician to Robson’s and would recommend everyone else to do the same. The staff are friendly and they really take their time to explain the process and results of your eye test. The technology they have is second to none meaning the examination is as thorough as can be.
Robson’s also has a good range of glasses with some quirky options available too. I definitely won’t be going anywhere else in the future.

Having lost my prescription sunglasses on the first day of lockdown and failing to get any satisfactory response from Boots Opticians (from where I had my eye test and bought the glasses), I contacted Robson Opticians for help. Five working days later I received a new pair by post as Elaine had somehow managed to get my prescription emailed to them. Thank you for your superb service

Robson opticians were recommended to use by some friends several years ago. All the family now use them, I can’t recommend them highly enough. They explain everything unlike the chain store I was with before, they were only interested in a quick turn over. The staff at Robson take time which makes the whole experience a pleasure. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Robson Opticians were recommended to me a few years ago by a friend after a awful experience at a big high street optician. Switching to them was the best decision I could have made. My parents switched to them too after I told them how wonderful they are.
The high level of care from all the staff comes from them being a small opticians where they really know their customers.
I can’t fault their service they are very knowledgable, professional and helpful.
I would definitely recommend and wouldn’t go any where else for my eye care.

Thanks so much to the lovely staff at Robsons who've looked after my daughter so well since she first needed her specs at the tender age of 2...highly recommended and the only NE stockists of kids Lindbergs that I could find. Elaine, Andrew and Vanessa are all lovely with kids and the personal touch from a local family business beats visiting the big chains hands down.
