I'm Nicola Cameron, managing director of Custom Wills, a family business in Bedfordshire. After a career working in insurance law and employment law, I retrained with the Society of Will Writers and set up Custom Wills in 2010. It really is a family team. My dad Alan is a consultant and mum Christine is director - they're both will writers, by the way - while my sister Clare deals with admin and marketing.
That is, new Wills, Will writing updates or perhaps you would simply like a review of your existing Will written elsewhere, to ensure it still does what you want it to do. Such a sensible idea and we have the lowest cost ones in the market! Putting one in place saves you money and your loved ones extra stress at an already difficult time.
Making a will is for older people, right? Wrong! Nobody knows when they're going to die - that's not being morbid, that's just reality. And if you haven't planned ahead and made a will you could be leaving behind a whole heap of problems when you're gone. With a will, you get to decide who inherits from your estate.
It may seem premature organising your funeral now but with the cost of funerals set to continue rising, it makes sense to pay for yours now at today's prices. Will your family have 10,000 set aside to pay for your funeral? Chances are the answer is no - but that's what an average funeral is expected to cost by 2029.
If you've been named as an executor in someone's will it's your responsibility to sort out probate - the job of administering the deceased's estate. This can be a difficult task to take on when you're still grieving. It can also be time-consuming, especially if there are numerous beneficiaries and a large estate to deal with.
