A very personal service that goes beyond the call of duty. The staff at Davidson-Smith & Co have been extremely competent at successfully dealing with my divorce. They have been friendly and sympathetic whilst maintaining a professional, ethical and efficient service They have provided a great deal of moral support and guidance in a very stressful divorce.
Our solicitor has been responsive, reacting quickly to ever changing circumstances. Superb value for money for a fantastic team. Thank You for everything! Given the current outbreak of Covoid-19 virus we wish to provide all our existing and new clients with the opportunity to meet with us over the telephone, via Skype or via Facetime as an alternative to coming to the office if they wish.

Services
We are proud of the firm's history. It has been built upon a desire to help others, respect individuals and ensure fair representation. It's about people and their needs and it will continue to be so. Our reputation has been built upon our expertise, our commitment to our clients and the quality of our staff.
This has to be proved by 1 of 5 facts which are adultery, unreasonable behaviour, desertion for 2 years, separation for 2 years with consent or separation for 5 years (no consent needed). You need to have been married for at least 1 year to start divorce proceedings. The majority of divorces are dealt with on paperwork and usually do not require any hearings at court.
Contrary to popular belief there is no such thing as common law marriage. People who choose to live together rather than marry do not have the same rights and duties to each other and to third parties that married couples and Civil Partners do. Unmarried couples who separate cannot claim maintenance or lump sums from each other and cannot claim against the others pension funds.
It is becoming more and more popular for couples to try and agree what is to happen financially should their forthcoming marriage break down. These agreements are then incorporated into formal documents known as Pre Nuptial Agreements (Prenups). Prenups are still not binding in this country but on marriage breakdown the Courts are starting to find them extremely persuasive.
Where there are children involved, we are able to advise and help you through the various issues that can arise following marriage and relationship breakdown. It's often a sensitive and difficult area for clients to deal with.
Whether discussing where the children are to live, how often the absent parent is to have contact, schooling and paternity, the involvement of Social Services or simply what is available to help the children come to terms with the breakup, we can help.

I had a child access course with an abusive ex partner. Michelle and her team were absolutely amazing. Supported me all the way through it. Explained everytime. Always had the time for me. I was very emotional at times and as well as a professional approach they also had a personal approach. Can't recommend Michelle and her team enough. Thank you to you all.

Michelle has navigated me through a very hard 4 year divorce, it has been a challenge but we got there in the end. She is very professional and hardworking. She responds to messages and gives solid, professional advice. Her team work hard to help you get through this hard process, its never a nice situation to be in. But she is a kind empathetic woman and for me she was a perfect choice.

I made my first appointment with Michelle at Davidson-Smith and Co following a highly commended recommendation and I am sincerely glad I did. From that initial appointment I received the most professional, understanding and honest advice. I felt completely supported and well represented through the entire process. The whole team at Davidson-Smith were always available for advice and support and helped me through a difficult time. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Michelle and her team.

Michelle , I cannot begin to thank you enough , life circumstances has meant yet again I have had to contact you for advise and guidance to support me and my family with legal matters .
From my initial contact ( quite a few years ago ) , whoever I have spoken to in your office , has been courteous, taken the time to listen , and been proactive in passing on messages to you , so I have always had as much as possible an immediate response to any questions I have posed.
I recommend your service to anyone I know who might need advise on legal matters , reassuring them that they will receive a professional

Completely disgraceful - DO NOT USE.
The worst solicitor I've ever dealt with. I can't believe they claim to be qualified solicitors.
Just interested in making the maximum amount of money & exploiting people. The owner Michelle is a liar and has been completely useless, in all my dealings with her.
Very poor values and a firm that doesn't do the right thing for people. Very sad to see.
Stay far away from this firm!

I cannot thank Michelle and the team at Davidson-Smith enough. From my first appointment, Michelle and the team were exceptional, and friendly which has been a great benefit for someone who has in the past steered clear of solicitors for fear of being overwhelmed by legal talk.
At every step, Michelle explained everything in great detail in a way that I could understand clearly and in a way that helped inform my decisions.
During an 18 month period which had many stressful moments, Michelle and the team couldn’t have been more helpful. I cannot thank them enough, they’ve made mine and my
