When you visit Monoptics you will find an independent opticians that has made the customer our NUMBER 1 priority for over 20 years. We aim to combine personal care and attention with the highest professional standards. Shine will make sure she takes whatever time is needed to make the patient feel at ease and to fully explain the eye examination as she goes along.
As an independent practice, we can really take the time to understand any issues or worries you may have and offer a truly personal service. The health of your eyes is an important part of your general well being. This is why you will be taken through every step with our highly experienced staff. The eye examination will take approximately 25 - 35 minutes and during this time the optometrist will discuss all aspects concerning your vision.
At Monoptics we understand that children can be nervous when having their eyes tested. It is our duty to make sure that this is not the case and whenever possible to make sure it is a fun experience. They may not always know that there is a problem with their vision and so a simple examination can spot these problems early on.
If you are registered under a GP in the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley or Bexley, you have access to a free service that we now provide called MECS, which stands for Minor Eye Care Service. If you are unsure if you qualify for the above, you can contact us and we will provide help and advice.
At Monoptics we have frames to suit everyone. We carry an extensive range of men's, women's and children's styles. Due to the diversity of our local area, we cater from designer to budget frames. Fortunately, glasses have come a long way in recent times, both in terms of the materials used and the shapes and colours available.

Came for an eye test today as I thought perhaps I needed a new prescription and was treated to such a thorough examination. The optician also chatted through an allergy issue I have with my eyes and was so much more helpful than my GP has been on the matter. I was really impressed with the photos taken of the eye and the explanation on eye health etc. So much more thorough than any other optician I have been to, particularly the high street chains. Thoroughly recommend!

I had my first eye test appointment today with Shine, she was amazing! From the feel of the shop with the amazing photography on the walls to the full professional set up in the testing room everything was exceptional.
Shine explained everything in detail and I left feeling like I had been really well looked after.

It really is a great feeling when you leave the Monoptics and you don't have to worry if your eyes have been examined correctly. I had a problem with my eyes before. I have been to 3 other ophthalmologists elsewhere and I haven't gotten an exact answer as to what is actually happening to my eyes. This time I was positively surprised and finally my eye examination was well assessed. I'm happy that I chose Monoptics! Full professionalism and friendly service!

I needed a bespoke service relating to treatment I'm receiving and, after searching high and low for a place (the difficulty was increased because of Covid), Shine at Monoptics agreed to assist. She was professional, efficient and considerate. I was in safe hands the entire time. Also, everything in the store was Covid-19 compliant. I was extremely impressed. I thoroughly recommend this opticians.

Visited with my daughter to get her eyes checked and what a fantastically good experience. The staff were friendly and courteous and Shine the optician was brilliant! She went out of her way to be kind to a nervous patient and to explain how the eyes worked, what the issues were and what to do if any follow-up was needed. Shine also saved us money too by pointing out this particular test was free under a new "instead of visiting an A&E" protocol. A really nice surprise at how good Monoptics is - highly recommended - thanks guys!

Wow, I can't recommend this opticians enough. I spent weeks trying to look for a new opticians in my local area - I was on my last pair of contacts and worried that I was about to go on holiday without a backup pair. I called dozens of opticians and when I reached Monoptics - the first thing they did was reassure me I'd have my backup pair sorted; I knew I was in good hands.
I received the most thorough eye test I've ever had - and I've been wearing glasses since I was 7. The time and care spent on my exam was so appreciated. Shine (the optician) even went so far as to drop some sample contacts
