Katherine Lawrie Jewellery
My name is Katherine Lawrie, I've been making jewellery professionally for over twenty years. Previously I made jewellery under the supervision of my father, who is a jeweller too, as a hobby. I found I had a talent for it so decided that I would attend Art College and learn the skills I would need to set up in business.

I studied at Northbrook College in West Sussex, The Surrey Institute of Art and Design and Edinburgh College of Art. After this I returned back to the south of England and starting working at my studio near Steyning, where I worked for twenty years. I moved to a new studio near Arundel in 2019. Over the years I have found my style, being in the Sussex countryside is a constant source for inspiration.
Services
Living out in the sticks one cannot ignore that you are surrounded by nature. Natural forms have always been an influence but recently I have turned to the wildlife that lurks in our countryside. We are often visited by foxes, rabbits, deer, squirrels and the garden and fields are full of many types of wild birds.
I have been a member of the Society of Botanical Artists since 2012. The Society regularly holds exhibitions at The Mall Galleries in London, UK, and at the Palmengarten in Frankfurt, Germany. I design and make sculptural pieces specifically for these exhibitions and also explore botanical forms within my regular pieces of work.
While I was a student I spent many hours experimenting with a technique called Roller texturing, which is a process that once mastered can lead to beautifully textured work that can often be evocative and ethereal. A leaf that is imprinted into metal will disintegrate but the impression it leaves is almost like those found in fossils created by the force of the earth enveloping them.
Rings are central to the rituals of our lives, which makes them significant symbols for many lovely events in life. As a maker I love being part of the process in creating something that will be worn with love. The sentiment in giving a ring is still a very important part of our lives. I hold a variety of rings in stock, but most need to be made to measure.
