Never a dull moment in our classroom! In P1 we are learning to become more independent and to do things for ourselves. We get changed for PE, change our shoes, sharpen our pencils, wash and dry our dishes from snack. These are all very important life skills. We learn to read, write and count. It is always busy in our room.
The school has a very active and successful Parents Teachers' Association (PTA) which makes a valuable contribution to the life of the school. The PTA organises a variety of both fund raising events and social events for the school community and wider school community. This group of parents works "hand in glove" with Principal and Teaching Staff to reaise funds to buy equipment for the school.
P1-P4 enjoyed the story about the "Chicken Clicking" and drew pictures to remind everyone to stay safe online. Winners of the KS2 Internet Safety Poster Competition pictured with their new memory sticks and a chocolate treat! In Howard we place a great emphasis on the acquisition of ICT skills. ICT is used throughout all subjects of the curriculum.
At Howard we are a listening school and value the ideas and input of our pupils. Pupils from primary four to primary seven have the opportunity to become members of our school council. The council meets to discuss issues that affect them at school and agree on actions which would help ensure the happiness of pupils and success of the school.
Our Eco Council is made up of pupils from primary four to primary seven under the supervision of our Eco Co ordinator Miss Sweeney. The council meets regularly and is concerned about issues such as water, energy, recycling, litter, healthy living, transport, bio diversity, the school grounds and the environment.
