Services
Please note that our reception is open in the building at these times but our phones are only open 8:00am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday. We are of course able to fulfil many requests through our website which is open all the time. This includes appointment booking, checking results, ordering repeat prescriptions and requesting reports and sick notes.
Pharmacists dispense your prescriptions and other medicines, offer testing and screening for common medical conditions and can advise if you have a minor illness. They can also help you decide whether you need to see a doctor or nurse. You can talk to your pharmacist in confidence, even about the most personal symptoms and you don't need to make an appointment.
Repeat prescriptions are medications which appear on the right hand side of your prescription and in your online profile which your doctor would like you to continue on a regular basis. Medications not shown here are not repeat prescriptions. You may hand in your computer slip or a note with your name, address, DOB and the medication required written clearly.
Our doctors work in Clinical Teams to provide continuity of care to patients. They are supported by Team Care Coordinators who provide administrative support to the teams and are a point of contact and support for patients as well as ensuring proactive care by scheduling in activity and patient contact for the clinical teams.
Our Patient Participation Group is composed of a small group of patients and staff from The Nelson Medical Practice who work together to foster an approach of partnership amongst all of those who work and use the services that are provided by the practice.
The PPG's objects are to represent the needs, concerns and interests of patients by consulting and working collaboratively with the Nelson Medical Practice about the services and facilities provided.Acting as a "sounding board" for doctors and surgery staff, and to be a two-way channel of communication in the provision and development of healthcare services.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! I spent 60 minutes on the phone just to get through ..i AM STILL WAITING AS I TYPE. After waiting in the first position for 50 minutes I am diverted to another type of queue where there is no music, yet again ,waiting, then I am told I need to call at 8:00, because ALL slots are taken, but for some reason for certain procedures you can book 3 weeks in advance... ....they make it incredibly hard for people to benefit from medical care....their Doctorlink is not working either. It's funny that when I called this morning I was "14'th in the queue".,now in the afternoon I was

My daughter is try to call you to make an appointment. She was 3 times in the waiting in the line and when it tells she is in position 1 then it is switching off. Is this some practice to take patient resign from seeing a doctor. I'm sure it's not a coincidence. There is always some problems with this practice and rude reception staff.

I was a patient at the blood testing clinic today. I so hope a senior manager can improve working conditions for the staff at this clinic.
Today I heard them say” We cannot carry on like this!”
A much larger than average number of patients are waiting all day every working day for their blood tests to be taken.
The working conditions are horrendous.
Medical staff have to go out from their very small working area to the main entry area of the building to find and communicate with patients according to the numbered chit each one holds. There are about forty patients and there is seating for

Amazing medical practice nothing but stellar service. I’ve never encountered a negative experience with any staff of doctors there. I find the reception staff are always polite and helpful. It’s rare these days to find a good service like the Nelson Medical practice.
Sadly leaving as I have moved out of the area, but I wanted to say a super big thank you to all the team there for the years of professional service and care.
We all know finding a good GP practice is never easy. More so if you are Autistic, a routine appointment can turn into a very negative experience if you are met with unaware
