Cann House is a magnificent country house dating back to 1863. We are situated within close proximity of Derriford, and Nuffield Hospital, and on the borders of the beautiful village of Tamerton Foliot. Cann House is set within 9 acres of established gardens and sweeping lawns. All areas of the gardens are levelled for easy access for wheelchairs, and relatives are encouraged to explore our grounds with their families.
We provide a high level of person-centred care based on individuals physical, psychological, spiritual and social requirements. We provide a high standard of long term nursing and residential care so there is no need for residents to move if their condition deteriorates.

Services
Cann House is owned by the Briscoe family who live locally and are actively involved with the day to day running of the home and are always happy to meet with residents and their families. Cann House is fortunate to have the original Chapel within the building, where we still host a regular Service on the First Wednesday of each month, which is non-denominational.
Samantha McTaggart is our Registered Home Manager. Samantha is an experienced Registered Nurse, and previously held the role of Matron at Cann House. She has a Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Samantha provides professional leadership for nurses and all staff that have a direct impact on the services that are offered to ensure that the high standards of quality of care is maintained.

My uncle was a resident here for just over 2 years and the care and compassion was 100%. The patients all have amazing food, lovely bedroom and amazing round tbe clock care. They have a fantastic activities co-ordinator that arranges daily activities for the patients ( if it's not bingo its remonising on war years or celebrating valentines day. More recently during COVID as we have been unable to visit our loved ones Leighann has been organising face time to see and chat to relatives.) My uncle finding it hard along with others due to modern technology.
There is always a happy atmosphere in Cann

I can not explain well enough how amazing the nursing staff and team are at this care home! Sadly my Grandad has now passed, but the time he was in Cann House he was treated with the upmost respect and dignity everyday. He was cared for tremendously well, he was treated with compassion, genuinely loved by the staff and was never uncomfortable. When we as a society realise care staff only have one pair of hands, we might appreciate the fantastic job they do a lot more! As a family we are extremely grateful for everything and everyone at this care home and what they did for my Grandad Terence Kingscott

I can not thank everyone enough at Cann House for all of the recent support and comfort they have provided to us as a family through the care of my grandad.
From entering the very first time to the welcoming desk and signing in, I felt this dementia friendly home was the perfect place for him. It felt incredibly safe and there was always many staff available. There was sufficient parking for our cars and
over the short 3weeks that he resided here we all visited several times and he was extremely well cared for physically and emotionally.
I can not fault the service this home provided to him

I visited the home recently after my dear mum had passed away. What can I say, the grounds are beautiful, the staff were so warm and friendly and I can’t thank them enough for all they did for my beautiful mum and also the support they gave my dad. She wasn’t in there for long due to her passing, but the environment and grounds were peaceful and the perfect place for her. Matron in particular was a real comforting, genuine lady, and I am so pleased my mum got to experience her last few days in such a beautiful place. I personally would recommend Cann House.

Recently worked a shift at this home. I was apprehensive due to recent reviews but how wrong it was. The home was a warm caring place with helpful Staff. I was made to feel welcome from the start of my shift and will be requesting to go back as soon as they need cover.
I read their recent CQC report and it was exactly as the report stated - good!

It’s safe to say that my family ‘dodged a bullet’ by not placing our loved one at this home. The initial visits were great and we were excited to have found a suitable place for our loved one to spend their final moments. They were equally excited at the prospect and it all seemed to be unfolding perfectly. However an issue arose that we discussed with the management team of the home and then the whole tone and experience changed with immediate effect. Assessments that were booked for our loved one were cancelled at short notice on more than 3 occasions, building up hope and excitement for
