Furzeleigh Mill
Furzeleigh Mill is a small country hotel within the Dartmoor National Park situated not far from the Devon Expressway equidistant between Plymouth and Exeter and in between the ancient towns of Ashburton and Buckfastleigh. Having started life in 1547 as a Spring fed Corn Mill Furzeleigh has been a hotel for around the last 100 years.

A new Family Business since 2018, Furzeleigh Mill offers 10 bright and cosy en-suite bedrooms, an extended bar and the former Mill Room which is now our newly refurnished restaurant. We pride ourselves on great food, locally sourced and freshly prepared and friendly service. We have added a stunning terrace in the south facing grounds of the building and are systematically upgrading our offering.
Services
10 cosy ensuite bedrooms are available at Furzeleigh Mill, a mixture of singles, doubles and family rooms. All rooms have lovely countryside views. Owing to the nature of the old Mill building there are a number of steps to the rooms and several different levels. There are no ground floor bedrooms and we do not have a lift.
Wistmans Wood is a stunning contemporary room with a Kingsize four poster bed, exposed original stonework and a subtle decor. The views over the garden and beyond to the hills make this special room the perfect retreat. A small and beautifully fitted ensuite shower room completes the room.* Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served between 8am and 9.30am.
Newly refurbished to a very high standard, with exquisite furnishings, stunning exposed stone wall and a beautiful wooden beam (however please bear in mind it results in low head room). Cherry Brook is a super room on the first floor overlooking the garden to the hills beyond. Compact and cosy.

A sumptuously comfortable king sized bed, wall mounted smart tv, wifi and tea and coffee facilities make this room a comfortable and practical option for travellers.A small ensuite shower room completes the room. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served between 8am and 9.30am. If you need to leave earlier we offer a packed breakfast to take away.
Ashburn is a lovely flexible room suitable for up to three adults. In the beautifully furnished room you'll find a king sized bed that splits in to two singles if required plus a full sized single bed. Ashburn has a great view across the terrace to the rolling hills beyond. A new, small en suite shower room completes the room.
Ponsworthy is a single room with a very generous 4ft super comfortable bed. Situated on the top floor with views across the rear garden up the Ashburn valley. Tastefully decorated, there is a desk with USB charging points, wardrobe and wall mounted smart tv. An ensuite shower room completes the room.

Wonderful! We pulled in off the A38 on a long drive home looking for dinner and were greeted with a super warm welcome, found a space and allowed our dog. The staff were lovely, the food was absolutely delicious - a late in the day veggie roast with exquisite pastry and flavours. Definitely coming back next time in the area.

We booked Furzeleigh Mill for a one night stay on our way down to Cornwall but wish we’d have stayed longer as our stay surpassed all expectations! The warmth and hospitality from the owners and staff was outstanding from the second we arrived until the time we left the next morning. Every little detail at Furzeleigh Mill has been well thought out - our room was comfortable, stylish and well equipped, and breakfast was delicious and fantastic quality with lots of variety. We especially enjoyed our evening of cosy drinks by the fireplace in the lobby and the fantastic gin selection at the bar

Excellent food and service. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, I asked for medium rare and that's exactly what I got. The poached pear and panacotta desert was sublime.

Rooms were decorated in a very modern fashion. Restaurant menu and presentation was excellent. Service from Phoebe was very attentive and friendly from the start. I can't fault it. Looking forward to a return visit one day.

Ate in the Furzeleigh Mill tonight with my husband and we were overwhelmed with the quality of the meal and the lovely staff along with the value for money. The prawns were one of the best starters either of us had tasted, my salmon was fantastic and my husband said his lamb was delicious. Highly recommended.

Lovely place to stopover. Rooms are small, but very nicely decorated. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection of hot food to order. It is reasonably close to a large and busy road, so if you are a light sleeper make sure you get a room that faces the other way.

Popped into Furzeleigh Mill for a drink and thought the service and outside seating were lovely. Great views over the rolling hills and 100 Gins to choose from at the bar.
We thought the menu looked great so we came back for dinner and weren’t disappointed. Delicious, good quality food. We’ll be back to try the lunch menu.
