The Crown Inn is a traditional 17th century freehouse set in the heart of the friendly village of West Down, close to the beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Putsborough and the beautiful Exmoor national park. Relax in the friendly atmosphere and enjoy a meal from our varied menu or specials board and a drink by the cosy fire or in the delightful garden.
At the Crown Inn - West Down, we have a choice of lagers and ciders on draught, well kept real ales with regular guest ales, and a wide selection of spirits with a focus on local and artisanal. The log burner is in the heart of the main bar and double sided to keep you warm on those fresh Devon days.

Our charming well maintained gardens provide yet another area in which to dine during fine weather and are particularly suitable for family outings with plenty of room and things to keep the little ones entertained while you have a relaxing drink or two. Deceivingly large inside an dog friendly which was important having been hiking all day. Staff were lovely a helpful.
Onto the important part the food was amazing, starter of whitebait, the burger which had a range of options was quite possibly the best burger I’ve ever had (of which I’ve had a lot in alit of places) then onto the desert I’ve never had cinnamon brioche bread and butter pudding with clotted cream but this was amazing (photo attached)
And all for a reasonable price with decent beers and wine. Worth a visit

My family, parents and I had a lovely meal here. A friendly welcome and great service, delicious food which was served in good time and a lovely atmosphere. Good range of beers, including craft beers and ciders, and great desserts. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to people of all ages.

We didn’t stay there, we ate there. It was our 31st wedding anniversary and we didn’t have a starter as they were dishes we have never heard of. Off the specials board the wife chose lasagna and when it arrived it was in a tiny dish on a plate, the lasagna was burnt and stuck to the bottom of the dish, it was absolute rubbish. We complained but told this is normal as it was cooked in a hot oven. We won’t be going there again and would not recommend the place to anyone. The attitude of the staff after we complained was obnoxious. No apology was offered. My advice is everyone stay well clear

Booked last minute but a brilliant find. Lovely and clean, well ventilated with plenty of room between tables.
On arrival we were greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff, service throughout the evening was excellent.
Food was amazing, good portion sizes and well cooked.
Will definitely go again if back in the area.
