Periwinkle Cottage is a picture postcard cottage situated on Selworthy Green. Set on a hillside on the edge of the National Trust's Holnicote Estate, the views from Selworthy offer a breathtaking panorama of the adjacent villages, fields and Exmoor towards Dunkery Beacon. Periwinkle Cottage sits at the heart of the National Trust' Selworthy Green and has its origins in the C17th.
Steeped in history, Periwinkle Cottage was remodelled when Selworthy Green was created in 1828 as Almshouses for retired staff of the Holnicote Estate and has for many years been Tea Rooms and Gardens. This quintessential English Tea Rooms and Gardens has a fresh and contemporary dcor and is home to the owners, tenants of the National Trust.

Services
Clematis Cottage was built in 1828 at the time Selworthy Green was created and since the National Trust took ownership in 1944 has been a shop and information centre. Having been closed and empty for a couple of years, Clematis Cottage is now home to our Gift Shop & Gallery. We are very proud of how the shop looks and all the items for sale are produced by artists and craftspeople who live and work on Exmoor and the surrounding villages.
