We will be offering our Sharing plates with wonderful fresh locally caught Seafood award winning Meats and fresh local produce from the Causeway coast. Our reservation system is now live. The word Tapa means Lid in Spanish, it is thought that this originally referred to a piece of bread that was placed on top of a glass of sherry to keep the flies away.
This was often served with a slice of cheese or ham and so the tradition began. Today the range of Tapas dishes are astounding and reflects the diversity of ingredients in Spain. At Ocho we source most of our raw ingredients locally but some ingredients such as Morcilla, Jamon Serrano and Padron Peppers can only be sourced in southern Spain and Sobrasada which is from Mallorca.

We were in Tapas for the first time this week and the food was excellent but the service was poor - however the follow up customer service has been outstanding and I have a better understanding of the problems with getting experienced staff in these difficult covid times - I know that Ocho will work on improving the service and will return to its former glory - I would highly recommend this customer focussed restaurant

Why did I not know this place has been around for years!
We'll worthy of the multiple awards for the delicious food. Came for the early bird menu which was amazing value for three tapas. Equally impressed by the kids menu that was a welcome change to the norm. Fish went down very well.
Portions are spot on for size, could probably have done without dessert but was very tasty.
Lovely evening out in Portrush.

Wow! This is my last night in Portrush, and did I pick the right place for dinner! They have a Spanish Jamon y Queso plate with assorted olives, smoked nuts, quince jelly, caper berries.... it looked like too much for one person and the waitress told me they could do a smaller version. I jumped on it, and added the their chowder which is the Ulster Champion for 2019, and very well deserved. I'm attaching a photo of the description. Came with a needed finger bowl. Getting ready to have desert which I expect to be just as good!

While visiting from Canada for two weeks, we visited this restaurant and were so happy with the experience, we visited again a few days later! Firstly, I was told they are always busy so it's important to book in advance. I emailed them and Sean, the owner, wrote back almost immediately and confirmed a table at 5 p.m. the next day. Very efficient customer service! Parking is limited (but then it is everywhere in Portrush), so we parked behind the restaurant and the exterior is modestly decorated, but once you enter this restaurant, it is clear it's a little gem. The interior is warm and inviting

Enjoyed Ocho three times over two weeks. I'm an early diner, and they had a 3-tapas special until 6:30. The service was overall awesome. I got to be a part of one new employee's first night of work, but her attitude and good hustle more than made up for it. The bread course plus olives and a glass or two of their red wine was a delicious option, with the bonus of another tapas to join. I went with the chorizo, the meatballs, and the pork medallions for that course. All were spot-on. It's obvious the owner has done and continues his research in Spain, and his staff shares his enthusiasm

Amazing early bird menu for under £10! Delightful dishes for my husband who had mussels, chicken and fish. I am a vegetarian and had a bread dish, salad and fried mushrooms. Every dish was delicious! We had the white sangria which was fruity and light. The service was excellent with a full house and a party upstairs! We will be going back before we leave.

Fantastic food. When we arrived they had a large group upstairs and though the downstairs was empty they said the kitchen could not get food out for an hour. This fact was hard to take at first but the fact they would not sacrifice quality was reflected in their food. The bread was amazing. We had the lamb, foie Gras, scallops and it was all delicious.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could, they seated us even after closing on a Sunday! We ordered 7 dishes & ate EVERY SINGLE crumb. We would have licked every plate if such things were appropriate. The prices are so reasonable, 3£-5£ for most small plates. Our bill came to 28£ for food and 2 drinks. We were very hungry- and I would definitely recommend 3-4 dishes per person.
The dates wrapped in bacon, the pork fillet, trip of sliders, meatballs, filo filled with goats cheese, courgette blooms stuffed with cheese & spices... Each dish more delicious than the previous.
