The company has come a long way since it was founded by James Taggart and his friend Robert McMillan in 1896. From its early days as a cycle shop in Motherwell, the company has grown to become one of the most important dealerships in Scotland and one of the most progressive.

Whether you are looking to purchase a brand new hatchback or are looking for a used coupe, Taggarts Scotland can help. What's more at Taggarts we can provide competitive finance tailored to your individual needs.
Taggarts is one of the best-known names in the Scottish motor trade, with a history stretching back over 100 years. The company has evolved greatly in this time and is now proud to sell vehicles from some of the biggest names in motoring, including; Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo - from our state of the art showrooms in central Scotland.
Hire Purchase contracts are generally simple, can be arranged quickly and are available in most car dealerships. Hire purchase is a straightforward finance option for those buying a new or used car, who are working on a budget. At Lookers, we offer hire purchase agreements as part of our range of flexible finance options.
Personal contract hire is a form of long term rental which is perfect for those who know they will be looking to move on to another car once the agreement period is over. Working in a similar way to Personal Contract Purchase (PCP), the main difference is that ownership of the vehicle would not be assumed at the end of the agreement period and instead the car would be handed back without any further obligation.

Fully paid over 50k for a new vehicle in stock and the vehicle was not Road worthy when due to be collected. A part was gone in the "New Vehicle" and needed to be replaced. The part was not in stock and is on back order and as I write this message I don't know when the vehicle will be ready for collection. Taggarts sold a new "In Stock"
Vehicle and took payment without doing any quality checks on the vehicle. Very poor service and very poor communication throughout the transaction. Going by previous reviews, I expected alot better from Taggarts. Very poor service.

Gavin Loftus very helpful and made buying a new car very easy. The showroom is small but they seem to stock or have access to a good number of cars. The paperwork of buying a new car is horrendous, particularly in lockdown where everything is sent to you (multiple times!) electronically, but the end result is worth it.

I'm not sure how you change a business name on here, but I'll have a go once this review is up. Please note that Shields Landrover at this address is now *Taggarts*. However, this does not mean that their customer service has slipped to the level of Taggarts in Motherwell...
After several horrific experiences with multiple branches of Arnold Clark over the years (a business we won't even touch to get a spare windscreen wiper fitted in future, regardless a new car), we looked at Land Rover as an option and Shields as a dealer.
Eye-opening. It's wonderful to discover in this

When Taggarts Landrover tried to insist I and my disabled son undertake a journey of 6 hours in order to take a landrover bought from them back because the lock on the filler cap had come out I spent two hours on the phone and was finally directed by Landrover to Shields. It was night and day, they were so helpful, I sent photos of the problem and they have promised to post out a new filler cap and we'll return the broken one by post. Thank goodness for some common sense and common humanity.
