A relative should register the death. Registering the death will take about 30 minutes - And you will need to make an appointment to do so. Certificate for Burial or Cremation (the 'green form') - gives permission for burial or an application for cremation. You can buy extra death certificates - these will be needed for sorting out the person's affairs.
We understand that it may be easier to talk to someone outside of your friends and family about grief and the impact of bereavement of your life and this is why we offer the SAIFCare Chat service. GriefChat counsellors are experienced in supporting bereaved people and will listen to your story, explore how your grief is affecting you and help you to find any additional support you might need.

I would like to share my experience with Edwin Pounds with you all.
I have had one of the best times sorting my funeral plan out,and such a laugh doing it. Simon and all his colleagues were absolutely fantastic, and such fun to work with.
I know it sounds extraordinary, but I've had such a great time sorting out my funeral.
From day one it's been a happy experience and full of laughter, to take all the stress away from my children when my time comes has been amazing. All they have to do is turn up 😁 I have made plans and wrote further instructions down for a 1980s themed funeral, fancy dress

My family and I want to say a huge thankyou to John and everyone else involved with Mum's funeral yesterday. The restrictions were awful but John and Edwin Pounds dealt with everything with dignity and respect and couldn't have been kinder.

Simon conducted my wife’s funeral professionally, sympathetically and could not have done anymore to assist the family. Thank you to him and his staff. Really don’t know why people use the big firms when the small independent firms give great service. We have used the services of Edwin Pounds five times and all have been handled as well as expected. Thank you to all at Edwin Pounds.

From start to finish, Paul at Edwin Pounds was a calm, professional, comprehensively prepared organiser. He spelt out what, when an how things would be done, he recommended an excellent celebrant, Kevin Mitchell and on the day, managed proceedings to enable a great send-off for a beloved ninety-seven year old Uncle. Kevin helped organise proceedings at the crematorium and built an excellent 'service' around the main eulogy. All in all a wonderful send-off. Well done.

I don't have much experience with funeral directors but this particular company were a god send when my mother passed. I would recommend to anyone who is unfortunate to experience a death in the family. Special mention to Tyrone.
