We are a family run Day Nursery and Pre-school occupying a beautifully restored barn, located in the heart of the Holme Valley, between New Mill and Holmfirth, just off the A616 Sheffield Road. Barnaby's Day Nursery offers a unique outdoor approach to learning and provides rich, developmentally appropriate resources and activities in a safe, stimulating and homely environment.

Services
The babies in our Baby Room enjoy a homely atmosphere of warmth, safety and care. We work closely with parents and aim to follow their own home routine which means the transition from home to nursery is as smooth and natural for them as possible.
With both our indoor and outdoor environment our babies flourish with the rich variety of resources and activities we have to offer; particular favourites are the group singing times and when the children access the mud kitchen outdoors.We encourage and support the babies in our care to develop at their own pace and ensure each child's individual needs will be met by our dedicated team of practitioners and your child's key person.

In our Toddler Room we recognise and celebrate each child's individuality and capability in every aspect of care we provide, helping to build their independence and confidence.
We offer a wide range of resources and activities, indoors and outdoors, that specifically cater for children aged 2 years and above, that enhance physical development, co-ordination, confidence building, stimulate language and listening skills as well as encouraging social interaction with their peers.

When your child reaches our Pre-school room they have achieved another big milestone and continue to build on their confidence and skills ready for their transition to school. While our emphasis is still on learning through play, our day is slightly more structured. The introduction of individual time with your child's key person, literacy, numeracy, phonics, shapes and colours help your child develop the foundations needed for school.
For children who are rising 2 and over we offer, at no extra cost, the chance to participate in our Forest School activities. We operate the Forest School from our own private wood which is secure, and fully risk assessed. Sarah Branson is our fully qualified Forest School Leader with over 10 years experience.
As a family owned Day Nursery and Pre-school, we know how important it is to parents to have the reassurance that they have made the right decision for their child. Here at Barnaby's we pride ourselves in providing a stimulating and caring indoor and outdoor environment for children to grow and develop, whilst having fun.

My little boy has been going here since May 2019 (since he was 9 months old). I can honestly say that it's a lovely nursery, my little boy is so happy there, I can see the excitement in his face when we get to the door and are greeted by the staff. I love the fact that they do alot of outdoor activities as my little boy loves to be outside. I would highly recommend Barnaby's Day Nursery.

It was the best decision I made to send my boy to Barnabys. He has progressed so much in the pre school room and the staff are just fabulous with him. My son looks forward to going and will be very sad when he goes to big boy school. My younger children will also be coming too, Highly recommend Barnabys

It is one of the best decisions I have made to send my daughter to Barnaby's. She absolutely loves going to nursery and I drop her off and leave without a second thought...the sign of a nursery doing a fantastic job. She is relaxed and happy in the caring and stimulating environment they have created and this is allowing her confidence and development to fly. The setting, food and activities are amazing. I cannot recommend this nursery enough!

Excellent nursery. Both my boys love going (& usually dont want to leave!). Very kind, fiendly, patient & caring staff who really take time with the children in their care. They have some great ideas to stimulate children's learning and spend lots of time playing outside. The outdoor ethos is great, especially the woodland visits.
