A great place to stay, i really enjoyed. Perhaps not the cleanest or most modern accommodation, but i think for the price and the wonderful historic building and surrounding grounds in a beautiful part of the country it really deserves top marks.
Excellent staff that will do everything they can to make your stay better. Very much recommend.

We had paid for a 2 night break but left after the first night. It was cold, and this is only October, dining room was very cold, we sat there for 2.5 hours waiting for a simple 3 course meal which was did taste good. Breakfast was very poor and again no heating. Out room looked very nice but radiator did not work neither did the heated towel rail, there was a small oil filled radiator provided but it was not powerful enough even after keeping it on all night. Their was no hot water, apart from an hour or so in the morning. The electric shower did work but the water would not drain away from the

Work in progress to bring this delightfully picturesque place up to modern hotel standards. It needs a proper bar as a focal point within with more sensible prices. At the moment, it's rather a makeshift affair staffed by people with no formal training.
There is absolutely nothing to do after dinner as there are no shops or pubs for miles.

Swimming pool is small and shallow.
The bar is a joke. Wifi is great in reception area only.
The gardens are great for a small walk and to sit and relax. The showers are not great at all

2 adults and 3 children staying in superior family room. Was meant to be in a lodge but there was something wrong with boiler. We were offered free breakfast because of this so we were happy. Staff friendly. Breakfast tasty. Great swimming pool. The only downside were sofa bed uncomfortable (but not too bad for children) and showers didn't work very well at the swimming pool.
