Carnwath Golf Club is a delightful, mature course having been founded in 1907. Situated on a piece of land called 'Gallow Hill', to the west of the village of Carnwath, the then '9 hole course' was laid out by Mr Willie Auchterlonie, an Open champion, coveted club maker and contributor to the Jubilee course layout in St Andrew's.
Despite the rural setting of the Golf Club, it is easily accessible from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, making it a popular venue for visitors. Renowned for our hospitality, the staff and members will make your visit both pleasant and enjoyable. Due to conditions it was a very challenging course. High winds, lots of recent rain, low sun and biting cold! Starts off quite hilly and continues for most of the round with lots of contours to deal with and with it being exposed the wind plays a massive part.
For all the rain we have had there was only a few boggy parts but this only happened off piste! Most of the rough was fine and to be fair, the course is generally pretty forgiving... until the 18th where the wind caused havoc for our party of 12!!
Will be going back next year and works well just before winter course opens.
