A wonderful golfing experience awaits you at Lanark, the 25th oldest golf club in the world. The moorland course is one of Scotland's finest and the clubhouse facilities have recently been upgraded to a high standard. There is a well-stocked professional's shop, practice area and an interesting little 9-hole course.
The resident Chef is very well regarded for outstanding catering. The course is located just outside the historic market town of Lanark in the Upper Clyde Valley. It is maintained to the highest green-keeping standards and is renowned for its smooth, fast greens, natural moorland fairways and beautiful, unspoilt views across Scotland's rolling South Upland hills.

At that time the course comprised only six holes, set out on the Common Moor, then owned by the Royal Burgh of Lanark. Unlike many of the early golf clubs the location of the course has never changed and golf has now been played on The Moor for almost 160 years.
In 1897 at a cost of 3 and 10 shillings (3.50), Tom Morris (Snr) was employed to lay out 18 holes and in 1927 James Braid supervised the construction of several new holes to produce the basic layout which, with the exception of longer tees and modern bunkering, remains largely unchanged to this day.Testament indeed to the skill of these famous course architects.

Below is just a small sample of the hundreds of positive quotes from current members, included in responses from a recent Membership Survey. The course condition and views, continuous improvements, practice facilities, along with it being a very friendly place to play golf. I have played quite a number of courses this year and I feel that Lanark more than matches the condition of the majority of courses played.
