Lanark Golf Club
A wonderful golfing experience awaits you at Lanark, the 25th oldest golf club in the world. The moorland course is one of Scotland's finest and the clubhouse facilities have recently been upgraded to a high standard. There is a well-stocked professional's shop, practice area and an interesting little 9-hole course.

The resident Chef is very well regarded for outstanding catering. The course is located just outside the historic market town of Lanark in the Upper Clyde Valley. It is maintained to the highest green-keeping standards and is renowned for its smooth, fast greens, natural moorland fairways and beautiful, unspoilt views across Scotland's rolling South Upland hills.
Services
At that time the course comprised only six holes, set out on the Common Moor, then owned by the Royal Burgh of Lanark. Unlike many of the early golf clubs the location of the course has never changed and golf has now been played on The Moor for almost 160 years.

In 1897 at a cost of 3 and 10 shillings (3.50), Tom Morris (Snr) was employed to lay out 18 holes and in 1927 James Braid supervised the construction of several new holes to produce the basic layout which, with the exception of longer tees and modern bunkering, remains largely unchanged to this day.Testament indeed to the skill of these famous course architects.
Lanark Golf Club welcomes new members. At present the club has a waiting list for membership which is approximately one year in length. As an introductory offer any new Junior member under 12 will get their first year's membership F.O.C.The Club has increased the maximum age for youth members from Under 23 to Under 30.
Below is just a small sample of the hundreds of positive quotes from current members, included in responses from a recent Membership Survey. The course condition and views, continuous improvements, practice facilities, along with it being a very friendly place to play golf. I have played quite a number of courses this year and I feel that Lanark more than matches the condition of the majority of courses played.
Detailed information is available from the R&A website, also available as an app for iOS or Android phones or tablets. Here is a YouTube link to a 9 minute video, which covers 20 of the most important new rules. Lanark Golf Club is NOT adopting the optional local rule which provides an alternative to stroke-and-distance relief for a ball that is lost or out of bounds.
Alan White turned pro in 1982 when he became an assistant at Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Courses in Perthshire. In 1989 he left Gleneagles and moved to Aberdeen to be head pro at Murcar Golf Club. After a successful 7 years there, Alan moved to Lanark Golf Club where he has been since. In 2001 Alan was given the honour of being the Centenary Captain of the Scottish PGA.

Wonderful track and some great holes. course in great condition and true greens. think a few tees too close to greens, so all players need to be very mindful of what's going on around them.
very welcoming staff in clubhouse and although didnt eat, food looked very nice on surrounding tables

Played today 21st November and I must commend the green keepers for the absolute amazing condition the course was in for this time of year. Graham at the Pro Shop was very welcoming as was the staff in the restaurant. Food was very very good and highly recommend a day out here.
