Originally Built in 1790 as an alehouse for the workers at the Cherkely Court estate. The King William IV is now an independently run family free house. The "King Bill on the Hill, " due to its elevated position enjoys probably the finest views of any pub garden in Surrey. Fresh food and real ales await and as does a warm welcome, which is born out of a genuine desire from the owners and staff to please our guests.
Nestling above the A24 with panoramic views of the Mole Valley, near Dorking in Surrey, The King William IV Free house and Restaurant offers award winning food, stunning views and a perfect location. We are pearched on the side of a hill with many steps & levels, as such we may not be a suitable venue for mobility challenged customers or parents with prams.

Services
Often described as "Surrey's best kept secret", many customers who have lived in and around the immediate area for years "never knew we were here". Indeed, we are tucked away, nestled on a hill with panoramic views of the Mole Valley. In summertime and springtime you can eat alfresco and enjoy those scenic views from our terrace.
Please come along and enjoy some of the stunning walks around the King William and Surrey Hills - there are 20 car parking spaces outside Frascati restaurant which are free Surrey Hills Highways parking spaces for pub customers and village use. However, these spaces do get snapped up early on weekends.
The King William IV is nestled in the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty and is fortunate to have some of the most stunning countryside on our doorstep to explore. The King Bill on the Hill, as we are known locally, has probably the best views of any pub garden in Surrey and the Box Hill Hike trail runs literally at the side of our historic Inn.
Here at the King William IV, we are an independent free house. We actively use and support small local businesses in the area and use local produce. Our beer is mostly supplied by Surrey Hills Brewery which is a mere 1 mile down the road. Dorking Brewery, in Dorking, is also a favourite, indeed all of our ales come from Surrey breweries.
Here at the King William IV we make all our food fresh to order. We are not a gastro pub and have no pretensions to be so - there are no swirls, blobs or foams to be found on our plates, they are outlawed. What you will find is top quality ingredients made in house by professional chefs.
We home bake our own treacle cured hams - we have fresh squid and fish delivered daily and our home made calamari tastes a million miles away from what comes out of a freezer bag.Our chilli steak nachos have been a regular for 8 years and we guard the recipe jealously. As we are an independent freehouse we change the menus constantly, always according to seasons and also on a daily or weekly basis dependent on trends and weather.

Went here for a new year's Day lunch after a walk round box hill. Vegan food was incredible - friends all enjoyed the burger and the vegan pie special was to die for. Honestly some of the best vegan pub food we've ever had, we were talking about it the whole way home. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back if we were in the area. Only downside was tips were cash only so we couldn't leave a tip the staff team so deserved. Thanks Eamon and all

This quaint, ancient pub is like a best kept secret, hidden away in the hillside. The reason for the 3/5 stars is the huge wait we had for our food. Even to get drinks at the start of the meal was difficult; we ended up going up to the bar to try and speed things up. We also waited a long time to place our food order, having to request attention from the servers. The staff were all friendly and nice, but we just seemed to have been forgotten. We waited a whole hour for our food to come, which, if you have children, is pretty stress-inducing!! Our table ended up a screaming, chaotic mess by the

Stopped off for a pub lunch during a hike. Had the Pie of the Day. Was absolutely delicious. Great food and service with a smile. Was really, really appreciated.
One recommendation for the owner... I wanted to pay tip for the fab experience I had but was unable to do this via card payment. I would strongly recommend they sort this out. Lovely service should always be rewarded.

Gorgeous little pub tucked away from the main road, plenty of outdoor seating, SUPER friendly and efficient staff and the most delectable lamb roast I’ve ever eaten. I ordered fries instead of roast potatoes and damn they were crispy. They only take cash tips so bring cash cause you’ll need it for this place, hats off to the staff!

If you're reading this review and decide that you'll pass on The King William IV, you're crazy. You will miss out on the absolute best English Pub experience in the Surrey Hills. Not only is the building itself beautiful, but the views are phenomenal. The food is also elevated to a much higher standard than your normal pub grub. The autumn soup as a starter was warm, creamy and perfectly spiced. I had a chicken, leek and ham pie as my main - legitimately this is the best pie I've had in my life. Sticky toffee pudding rounded out the day and we joked that I'd need a wheelbarrow to roll me out! The
