To The Grand Hotel, Its striking Victorian architecture, elegant interiors, fantastic seafront location and award-winning food has earned it pride of place as Torquay's landmark hotel for over 130 years! Among our guests will be a trio from the renowned Primavera Chamber Ensemble, directed by Paul Manley, who will perform for us.
Another recital, this time jazz-orientated, will be given by Andy Panayi and a couple of friends. Presenters include Jonathan Willcocks, choral director, composer and son of Sir David Willcocks, who will talk about the effects of lockdown on his work with the Guildford Choral Society. Roderick Dunk will also give a session reminiscing about his life as a former professional Double Bass player and then conductor, composer and arranger.

The Grand Hotel is in a fantastic location in Torquay and a lovely historic building, but is struggling to maintain the standards of the past. I have stayed there a couple of times and found the rooms very large with great views, but in need of updating and renovation.
My last visit a few days ago for a light lunch, I found a £12 crab sandwich with very little crab meat in it, mostly mayo and large slabs of granary bread. Very disappointed with the quality of the food I was served and slow service when the Hotel was obviously very quiet.

This is not a four star hotel. The outdoor swimming pool smelt of sulphur, kids were pealing the tiles off when we went to sit by it. The whole place is so dated, they’ve not bothered to tare the old carpets up and have simply put new ones over them. Breakfast wasn’t great, the entire building needs a good make over. Location was nice, I just don’t think they can be getting away with charging £200-£300 per night.

Lovely Hotel Position with Amazing Views. Sadly needs such alot of money spent on it for it to be able to Continue Charging as a 4 Star Hotel. Staff all very young and appeared to be all being trained. But were as helpful and friendly as they could be.
Unfortunately we were staying for 2 days during which Graduations were being held. It would have been nice to be informed of this when we booked as we were unable to use the Restaurant and relax as they appeared to literally take over the amenities of the Hotel on the ground floor for the 2 day period.

We have been loyal customers of the hotel over the last four years but feel this may be our last stay. The staff as always are great but the room we had was extremely dated and small and just not worth the money. There are better decorated youth hostels with more modern facilities for a much lower cost. There were stains on the walls and for being a dog- friendly room, it was miles away from an exit which would make sense for taking a dog out. Richardsons need make a serious investment in this hotel soon and bring it into the 21st century or people will simply stop paying for overpriced mediocrity

I know I've already posted a review but now wish to be more specific. First the reception, sorry can't name any of the staff specifically but to say all are first class and all went above and beyond what was necessary, thank you so much for making our stay unforgettable. Also restaurant staff first class, and specifically Karen for being so on the ball and making everything run so smoothly, and last but not least Jason the porter who was amazing and nothing was too much trouble, I know it was your first day but if you carry on the way you did, we see a great future for you and a great asset to

I had a lovely warm welcome from the reception staff. My room was clean & tidy. The views from my hotel room was exceptional!! The food was really good and tasty. I was served at the bar by a young gentleman named Sean who couldn’t of made me feel more welcome he greeted me with a warm welcoming smile and seated me to a table and made sure I was catered for the whole evening along with my family. He was very professional and smartly dressed man.

Tired - A bit like a nice tramps old dog...
The Grand Hotel Tourquay had been fully renovated, unfortunately that renovation probably took place in the 1980's, judging by the hallway carpets, the bathroom fittings and the swimming pools. The weathered plywood sign above the door is the first giveaway The Grand is not as Grand as it once may have been, however lobby and ground floor are actually quite nice and well presented, and a splash of funky colours have been applied to the large dining room. However the fourth floor of the hotel is not a destination you should put on your bucket list, unless
