My name is Kate O'Meara and I have a background in both hospitality and retail and created The Cheese Society in 1997 at the beginning of the internet era. Originally we sold difficult to obtain, farmhouse, mainly unpasteurised cheese purely by mail order to individuals and trade customers from our warehouse in Lincoln.
Over the years, I have judged at many cheese awards and shows both in Britain and abroad, which has presented me with the opportunity to seek out new cheeses and meet a huge array of different cheesemakers. My daughter, Lucie joined the business in 2016, becoming part of our trained team of knowledgeable cheesemongers, and bringing with her a strong design background and an inherited love of cheese!

We have a small 16 seater Cheese Cafe, serving what we do best - classic cheese dishes and wine served simply and seasonally. Our cheese-based menu varies from the Double Baked Cheese Souffle, Raclette, Macaroni cheese amongst many others. If you are a big cheese fan then our cheese & meat board is definitely for you.
We are expert cheesemongers bringing you a selection of well known classic cheeses alongside smaller, lesser known cheese makers. We specialise in artisan, handmade cheeses offering cuts as small as 250g to whole cheeses. Require specialist cheeses that aren't listed? Please contact us as we may be able to source them.

A lovely place and some good products stay away from e numbers and bit of a struggle getting into shop with wheel chair ,step but helped that was nice.
Would love to give it five star but not yet it's still getting better, and the people behind it are working hard to achieve this.

I received a gift box, as a present and absolutely loved it. Great selection of delicious cheeses, which were beautifully presented. I then ordered a gift for my friend. After I gave the wrong address, they were really friendly and managed to rearrange the order to be delivered again (to the correct address) the same day! Great service, my friend was delighted. Very happy.

I did an online order for a gift. The ordering process was really smooth with a wide variety of cheeses available. The packaging was eco friendly and the explanation of cheese etiquette made the experience really fun and was a great extra touch. The cheeses we picked were excellent! The portion sizes were great and the tastes were delicious. We particularly enjoyed smoked Snowdonia and truffle gouda. The customer service was prompt and the friendliest I’ve ever experienced from an online order. I highly recommend The Cheese Society for brilliantly tasty cheeses, great portions, and very good

If you love cheese, lunch here is a must. The staff were brilliant and really friendly and welcoming. Our lunch was fantastic with some rarebit with Lincolnshire sausages and some cheddar and toasted plum bread. It was a great experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Highly recommend here for a civilised cheesy lunch!

Came here with 2 friends for my birthday lunch, and it did not disappoint! We arrived early (11.30am) as there aren't many seats and we were fine. By 12.03pm it was full! We ordered a small dish each (fruit bread/scones/pork pie) and one small sharing platter, which was more than enough. Next time I'll try one of the bigger dishes - it all sounded delicious! Service was great and price was reasonable. Will be back!

I don't often give 5 stars but the food quality here was exceptional and very reasonably priced. I could imagine it would be a tight if full and you would be sharing a table with others so worth bearing in mind if that's not your thing. but was quite when we were in so not an issue. Staff were friendly and helpful.
