Hypnotherapy is the art and science of communicating new ideas to the subconscious mind with the aid of hypnosis and modern psychotherapeutic techniques to promote healing at many levels. In practice we specifically incorporate techniques from other related therapeutic fields including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Psychotherapy, and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).
Some people are surprised to learn that hypnosis is a natural state with which we are all familiar. If you can remember how it feels when you daydream, then you'll have some idea of what it's like to enter hypnosis. If you've ever been so engrossed in a book you were reading that you didn't even notice somebody else had entered the room, well that's it too.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the understanding that human beings can perceive in distorted (anxiety causing) ways. These distorted perceptions can create negative feelings and thoughts about the World, the Self, and Other People leaving us feeling anxious, angry, and depressed. Using CBT, we identify the thoughts and feelings that are causing these emotional disturbances and create alternative rational perspectives based on evidence.
I use a varied approach to your therapy and the service I offer is more than "just" a hypnotherapy treatment. It's important that you choose a therapy and a therapist that feels right for you. With years of experience and ongoing training I incorporate many different approaches including techniques used in CBT, Psychotherapy, Analysis, NLP, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

John is an absolutely amazing therapist! I was expected to wait 9 months on the NHS for treatment and so in my search to get better and after many rejections I came across John through Google search engine.

I had weeklys session with John, via the phone as I live on the other side of the world, for approximately three months. I looked forward to each weekly session as John's advice and calming demeanour enabled me to put into practice the tools he gave me to help quell my anxiety and worries. Without his help and expertise I would not be living the fulfilling life that I now experience. I first saw John about 3 years ago for my anxiety and public speaking phobia, which were completely dominating my life at the time. I only had two appointments with him (as this was all that I needed), but it has made an incredible difference to my life for which I am very thankful.
