Torphins Playgroup is for pre-school children from the age of 2; until they attend primary school. The playgroup can take up to 18 children each day. Our aim is to provide a secure and caring environment in which children are happy, have fun, and are able to learn through play.

Services
Previous to taking on my role, I had volunteered as both the Treasurer and the Chairperson when my children attended the setting during their preschool years. I am currently working towards my SVQ level 3 in Early Years Care and Education and work on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I recently gained my SVQ level 3 in Early Years Care and Education and love working with children.
A typical day at Torphins Playgroup will involve lots of free-play with a huge variety of resources, a circle-time where we will sing songs and share our ideas and opinions, regular participation in music and movement games, preparing and eating a health snack, going outside in the garden for some outdoor fun and then finishing up the session with an altogether storytime.
Torphins Playgroup is inspected regularly and is rated 'Very Good' by the Scottish Government's Care Inspectorate; please read the Inspectorate's reports. You may also like to read the report by HM Inspectorate of Education, which is available on the Education Scotland website. Our staff are all qualified, or working towards a qualification, and have an abundance of experienced in Early Years child care.

Children may start at Torphins Playgroup, if a place is available, at any time after they are 2 years old and can remain with us until they start school. We strongly recommend that you visit Playgroup with your child before they start so that you can become familiar with the building and the staff.
