Services
The business we know today as W. Lauderdale & Son Funeral Services was started in 1946 on Askew Road West, Teams, Gateshead by William Lauderdale Senior - later more widely known as Billy Lauderdale. The business went from strength to strength over the next few years. In 1960 aged 15, Billy's son - also called William - joined his father.
William is proud to be the third generation of William Lauderdales to be at the helm of the business, following in the footsteps of his grandad Billy and dad Bill. William has over twenty years experience as a funeral director and has cared for a large number of families in and around Gateshead, where he has lived all his life.
More and more people are choosing to pre-arrange their funeral to reduce the emotional worry and anxiety for loved ones. Our plans guarantee that our funeral director's costs (as set out in the plan paperwork) are covered as long as we carry out the funeral and your requirements don't change.
You can also choose to make a contribution towards third party costs which are outside our control, such as the fees for cremation or burial, medical fees and payment to a minister or officiant.One of the main reasons that we recommend taking out one of our funeral plans is because they provide outstanding financial security for your money.

Our Funeral Packages can be tailored to meet your requirements making it personal to you and your family. All arrangements here at W. Lauderdale & Son Funeral Services come with many years experience and high standards of care. An easy going approach at a time of need, ensures you feel very comfortable from the first call, whilst knowing your loved one will be in a safe, caring funeral home meeting all standards of care and requirement.
An over 50s funeral plan is a life assurance policy which pays out a fixed lump sum when you pass away. They are typically purchased with funeral costs in mind, hence why they are often referred to as funeral expenses plans. An over 50s plan could work to your financial advantage if you die early in the life of the policy, because your claim will be for more than you have paid in.

We took out a pre paid care plan for my dad and it was the best thing we did.
Willy and the team were 5 star from the day we phoned up, the visit to the house and the day of the funeral we didn’t have to do anything, everything was taking care of.
The service we received was top class, very professional. You can see what they have been around a long time.
I would recommend W Lauderdales without a shadow of a doubt.

Whole experience for my Dad
I cannot thank Will and his colleagues enough for what was a emotional time in my life, they took away the stress and hassle, arranged everything from recommending a florist, to a minster, placing a notice in the local paper, to the order of service (the complete service).
We would recommend Lauderdale’s without any hesitation.

I lost my brother and then my Dad and I dreaded the funerals I felt I could not go through the final goodbye but Willy your support, respect, professionalism and consideration to us as a family made the hardest days of our lives easier to bare and for that we will always be grateful to you and your company.
