In an increasingly busy and frenetic world Forbes Childrens Nursery is a family-run business which provides the best start in life in an environment which is 'One Step from Home'. We promote emotional wellbeing, togetherness and comfort. We believe in the importance of learning through play and encouraging children to develop all their skills from music to languages.
We put a strong emphasis on learning in the outdoor environment in our own gardens and through forest school near and far. We also offer a freshly prepared healthy and balanced diet to provide as much energy for growing bodies as possible. You can expect a warm welcome from our experienced, caring and long-standing staff.

Services
Our ethos is "one step from home", creating a family environment. We offer a safe but stimulating setting where children are encouraged to develop their own identity through an understanding of the natural world around them. We practise a forest school approach within Edinburgh and in the wider countryside.
Therese is a Director of Forbes Nurseries and opened the nursery doors in 1996. Therese's passion and love of education runs throughout the nursery. She is a great believer in the importance of the outdoors in early years education and the benefits that it brings. Carol is the nursery Business Manager.
We do not operate single sessions except as extra sessions for children already in nursery. Extra sessions must be paid for at the time it is booked. To allow for when the nursery is closed, monthly bills are calculated on a 50.6 week year divided by 12. Intake into the nursery will normally be the first day of each month.
Does the member of staff showing you round show an interest in what you want for your child. If you child is with you, does he/she make contact with him/her?. Is the premises clean, well-kept and safe for children with a fun outside play area (or will children go to parks and other places regularly)?.
After receiving feedback from parents following their initial visit, the thing they found hardest was "what should they should look for in a nursery and what questions they should ask?". We would encourage parents to visit many other nurseries to get a perspective on what suits them. Very low - most staff have been with us from 6-8 years and one manager since we opened in 1996.
