The great thing about tapas is you can order as few or as many as you fancy. For 4 or more people we also do our popular tapas selection menus that are ideal for large parties and those who are too indecisive to choose from our large range of dishes. Our menu is created by Toni Almiron, a Spaniard from Granada, Andalucia, and offers a wide range of delicious dishes inspired by the gastronomy of southern Spain.

Services
We take bookings for tables of 2 or more. To reserve a table please call the restaurant or email us: Telephone: 0191 233 1122, email: info@eltorero.co.uk. We have a large bar area where you can enjoy a drink and soak up the buzzing atmosphere whilst you wait for a table to become available. We therefore recommend that on Fridays and Saturdays, you aim to arrive about 20 minutes before you wish to dine.

We visited for Restaurant Week. Choose one from each of three columns of tapas for £10. Every dish was delicious, beautifully presented and there was plenty to share (generous portions). We washed it all down with the white rioja for under £20. Perfect night, authentic Spanish staff giving suggestions and recommendations was lovely.

Lovely place and great staff! The place held a great atmosphere, perfect for dining out!
Overall a great choice of Tapas dishes, only criticism is that some of the gluten free options contain traces due to cooking contamination, although the staff informed us of this, the choice is then a little more limited. That said all the dishes tasted amazing!!

Sorry, awful. Table booked for 8pm, no food served till 8.50pm with prompting. Others who arrived after were served before us. We asked for extra bread as we were hungry and were charged for it! Received an apology from our waitress, but tbh the service did not improve. The food was lovely but portions small considering price. Been to El Coto lots and love it. Won't be back to this one.

What an absolute gem of a place, the food is just amazing, just make sure to go with a party of at least 4 to get advantage of their deals, other wise tends to be a bit expensive, as the food is so addictive you will want to order more and more. The Staff was also great always showing a smile and with the beautiful Spanish accent. Definitely one of my favourite places to go, I keep coming to Newcastle City Centre and keep discovering these in incredible places.

We had a fantastic time at El Torero, For 2, 3 dishes each is more than enough. Overall, the food was really good. In particular we both really liked the meatballs and beef stew. Wasn’t a huge fan of the ham croquettes due to the texture but that’s a personal preference. The waitress was great and kept coming by to check if we wanted any more drinks/dessert.
The traditional almond cake was delicious so I’d recommend ordering it if you’re unsure. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

A wonderful venue with masses of friendly and knowledgeable staff who solved one minor problem and were with us quickly even when really busy.
The food comes very quickly, is delicious and very reasonably priced overall.
About the only issue I had was it is so popular the place is quite loud! Otherwise, superb.

Overall the food here was very good, felt as though the portions were a bit on the smaller side for the price but everything tasted great. The service was okay on the most part but could have been better as it was hard to get the waitresses attention to order anything else or get the bill even though it was not busy.

Loved the atmosphere in this place, it did feel like I was in Spain! The the best road I've had in the north east and certainly the best value I've had in the country. This are definitely made fresh to order. I liked the fact they had morcilla on the menu, it was delicious and I can also recommend crocettas. The tortilla de patatas could have been better, I found it to be like the ones you find in the supermarket in Spain, not the home made ones and it was clear it had been heated in the microwave, however it was still good. Will definitely be going back when I'm up here........

I think this is the sister restaurant of El Coto, but the food wasn't nearly as good! It was fine, average, but I was disappointed because I had such high hopes. I like the big, cheerful room filled with people and the friendly Spanish servers. One of our friends was gluten-free (for medical reasons, not by choice), and the servers took it SO seriously, telling her if potatoes were fried in the same frier as items containing gluten, one of them even saying "It is very dangerous!" So eat with confidence, if you are gluten-free.
Between the four of us, we ordered a whole big

The best Tapas place I've ever had the pleasure of dining at, and I have been to plenty. It is authentic, has a delightful atmosphere and the food is delicious!
The menu has so many great dishes to choose from, the sangria is always good and the service has always been great too. Any time I want tapas, this is the place I will go.

I love this Spanish restaurant. It is not part of a chain, which I like. The food is always very good and the service is friendly too.
The menu is really extensive with so many mouthwatering choices. We enjoyed the lunch time offer which was 3 tapas dishes for 10.95.
The things that really stood out for me were the prawns in chilli and garlic (gambas al ajillo), potatoes fried with chorizo and red peppers (patatas corijeras - amazing) and the ham and chicken croquettes (croquetas de jamón y pollo). I am not a fan of blue cheese but my mam and boyfriend said the "pork fillet served in a

Situated inside an on old bank tucked away off the main drag I was really looking forward to an evening of spanish cuisine. The menu look great and we settled for a set tappas feast All pretty uninspiring to be perfectly frank. The occasional dish was really nice but overall just plain, as is this review to reflect that. The staff were great; attentive and friendly but that really was the highlight.

Went here for dinner with a co-worker on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was uncrowded, atmosphere was very cool... Spanish style.
They have a great wine selection. We ordered from the tapas menu (not sure if they have a full dinner menu?) and shared 5 tapas, which was plenty for the two of us. The tapas selection had a great variety, lots of choices. Our server was very helpful when we had questions about the portions and preparation of the food.
The cost of the meal and bottle of wine was very reasonable and as expected for a tapas restaurant.
I would certainly recommend this place!

The whole place is in need of refurbishment, there was no welcome when we arrived and we had to hover around the entrance and try to attract the attention of a staff member.
The food was really awful, it was bland and tasteless and all the dishes tasted the same. We got the distinct impression that the food had been hanging around for ages and merely heated up.
Not expensive but we will not be going back and will be telling others not to go also.

El Toro is my favourite tapas place in Newcastle, the atmosphere is lively but not too noisy, the staff welcoming and helpful, the food is also very nice and the set menu normally leaves everyone on the table stuffed with plenty of food left over, the last time I went there was so much food when they brought out a bonus dish of spare ribs everyone groaned as they looked lovely but no one could quite manage to eat a full one. They are also very accommodating with birthdays and also big tables, If I was going to recommend one tapas place in Newcastle I would definitely recommend El Toro

This is a great Tapas Restaurant, always busy and has a really lively atmosphere. The food is good and the size of tapas are on the larger end of the scale - reflected in the price.
I've come here only during the week and it's always very full which is a good thing. It's a great place to go if you're in a large crowd as Tapas are ideal for sharing, the service is reasonably quick and it's lively - I wouldn't necessarily come here for a romantic night out.
They could do with mending some of the wobbly tables which is rather frustrating!!!....

This is a taps restaurant which I have been to many times. It's great for a big group, as it's a busy, bustling kind of place, and the nature of the food means it's a sociable thing to do! Lots of stretching and sharing! The set menus are really good when you don't know what you fancy, and make working the bill out with friends at the end very easy! The sangria hits the spot too! If anyone tries the paella, let me know what it's like, I've always fancied trying it but always give in to the set menus instead. Good location for town and the quayside too.
