Services
St. Joseph's is a happy and caring Catholic school where everyone aspires to reach their true potential with Christ at the heart of all we do. Develop a safe, secure and nurturing environment in which everyone is valued and enabled to grow in self-esteem and confidence. Foster the spiritual and moral development of the children within the context of the Catholic faith, whilst sustaining a respect and understanding of other faiths and beliefs.
St Joseph's History curriculum intends to deliver a knowledge rich curriculum which engages all children and allows them to develop a range of skills. Our History curriculum allows children to develop coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain and the wider world's past. Through the teaching of History, we endeavour to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills to ask questions, think critically and develop their own opinions and judgements.
School meals are provided by City of Sunderland at a cost of 2.20 per day, 11.00 per week. We ask parents kindly to pay dinner money every Monday morning on-line or by cash/cheque (made payable to Trinity Catholic MAT) using a money bag marked clearly with their child's name. Dinner money is collected by the class teacher.
At St Joseph's Catholic School, our aim is that every child should feel safe, valued, supported and happy in school. We further aim to achieve this by providing opportunities to develop each child's self-confidence and pride. As a consequence, we provide a safe, caring and friendly environment for learning for all our pupils, to allow them to improve their life chances and help them maximise their potential.
Our House Groups are named after Northern Saints. We meet every month on a Friday to discuss things like Bonfire Night, working together and how to earn House Points. Each Friday, Mrs Black announces the House Point totals and we are always very excited to find out the winning House. Each term, the House with the most points gets a treat!
