Kate Hattersley Opticians is a family run independent opticians which prides itself on offering high levels of friendly customer service, value for money and honest advice. The practice used to be known as Lloyd Averns and Turner and was established in Earlsdon, Coventry in the 1930s. Mr Turner took the practice over from E Lloyd Averns in the 1950s.
It still retains all the sight test records from Mr Turner. Prior to running the practice, Kate has worked at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital, St James's Hospital in Leeds and taught at both Bradford University and Aston University. Kate conducts full eye examinations. She also fits contact lenses and does all the after care appointments which are vital to ensure the eyes remain healthy while wearing lenses.

Services
It is generally recommended that you have your eyes tested by an optician once every 2 years, unless you already have a diagnosed eye condition in which case it is sensible to have them tested every 12 months or as advised by your optician. It is not just adults who should have their eyes tested. It is important that children have their eyes examined regularly, and we are pleased to be able to provide this service.
Introductory questions to determine if there are any visual symptoms or concerns you have about your eyes, or if there is a family history of any eye problems. Calculation of your spectacle prescription using optical lenses. Don't worry about this part of the test - a lot of patients are concerned they are giving 'wrong' answers.

I am going to this optician for several years. Never had any problems. As I am the age where varifocals are often needed I called today with the intent to make an appointment to look at frames that would accommodate that. After I had to listen to several excuses by the receptionist why I should not come on I gave up. Trying to leave money with local businesses is not always easy, especially in lock down. Was very disappointed with the attitude.
