Services
The restaurant and bar areas of The Black Boys have been completely refurbished but stylised to preserve a 17th century feel with a modern ambience. To the rear of the pub we have a covered and heated outdoor area for drinking and dining - complete with its very own bar. Our menus cater for both traditional and more imaginative tastes, using local produce wherever possible.
The Menu includes Black Boys Classics such as BBQ Ribs and Mixed Fish Pie along with takeaway favourites Fish & Chips, Burgers and Curries. To finish off your order choose from a selection of sides to suit your appetite. Children's meals are also available. On Sundays why not stay at home and enjoy a roast without all the hard work?
At the Black Boys we have eight en-suite double bedrooms, all attractively furnished in a traditional style with modern comforts. Character features have been preserved where possible to give each room an individual feel. Named after Admiral Lord Nelson, who visited The Black Boys in 1792, the spacious first-floor Nelson Suite offers a super king-size bed, double sofa bed and modern en-suite bathroom.
When restrictions are lifted we would be happy to accommodate your small group or party, and can offer flexible timing and catering arrangements to suit your needs. We are able to partition off a section of our restaurant if you require a more private dining experience. With Aylsham Church within walking distance we are a popular choice for pre-wedding drinks.

Been here for food a few times. Fast service, polite staff, good food. But have consistently failed to serve ALL the food. Veg, tartare sauce, etc missed off the plates. Expect better for the cost.

What a lovely venue. Excellent food, we had our Christmas party here and the staff were incredible. Really good portions, I'm not vege but went for the vege options. They didn't disappoint! Cauliflower pakora! Amazing! ❤️ 💕

Excellent service, warm comfortable clean rooms. Very accommodating to our 2 dogs. The food is restaurant quality but be warned the portions are very generous. We enjoyed a nice weekend stay to celebrate a wedding anniversary.

Excellent food, service and location (with parking nearby). Not only were the staff very warm, but the food was great. I'd recommend for any family or occasion.

Had a nice Grain ale sitting outside and some good cocktails. Was all very friendly but definitely had the feel of a ‘food’ pub and not one where you could just sit inside for a beer. For such a historic building the interior seemed strangely characterless

Had a few beers sitting outside on the pavement overlooking Aylsham market place There is the main pub and restaurant and a covered area at the rear. A popular pub but no one was wearing masks except for the staff. That includes ordering at the bar or using the toilets. No one bothered with masks except staff. That may be a concern to some.
We didn't eat so only four stars because I can't comment on the food. The food did a roaring trade in takeaways during lock down so I have to say it is probably very good and the pub was full when we visited. Do you need to book for food? Probably.Check.

Had a work meeting here and expectations were exceeded. I tried to book to stay but they were fully booked so just had dinner. The portions are huge which usually means the food is bang average, thankfully not the case at the Black Boys Hotel. Really tasty and cooked very nicely with a very extensive menu. They also have a great selection of beers to choose from

Weekend away from London. What a great pub. Booked a table for Friday night. Lovely decor, totally dog friendly, food was superb [BIG PORTIONS]. Service was so good, the girls working there are so good. Popped in for a cheeky pint on Saturday, more of the same. Great service. Only feedback is those high tables are a tad too high but that's nit picking. Great boozer, well done all working there front of house and kitchen.
