The West Lancashire Golf Club, founded in 1873 in Blundellsands Liverpool, is among the ten oldest clubs in England and boasts one of the most natural and testing links found anywhere in the British Isles. The course was designed by C K Cotton, and is laid out on some 200 acres of land and succeeds in carrying out the ideal layout of a golf course - two loops of nine holes with the 9th and 18th greens in front of the clubhouse.
A lot of work in the administration of our courses has gone on in 2018 with the new local rules and Worldwide Handicapping System soon coming in to play. All courses have recently been re-certified for their length, and re-assessed by Lancashire for their Standard Scratch Score and Slope Index. The White Course is a true Championship Course at West Lancashire without playing it at its full length.
The green keeping team is led by our Course Manager Stuart Hogg, who has worked on links courses his entire career. His Deputy Peter Cotgreave, who has worked here at West Lancashire for 20 years and having previously worked and learnt his trade at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, along with 7 other greenkeepers.
The diverse and unique landscape we have here at West Lancs GC offers our golfer an experience not found on many courses in the UK. Take the many colours on offer from our scarce and sometimes rare wildflowers; bartsia, woundworts and toadflax grow freely in our eco roughs, whereas the stable dune system around the opening holes become dominated with native flowering peas in the Summer months.

We have just had our first coffee morning of 2022 and would like to say a big thank you to Sarah & Courtney for looking after us so well. There was 26 of us today so obviously alot of pots of tea & coffee to make. Quite a few of us had lunch too which as usual was excellent. Once again can you pass out thanks onto them they are a credit to the club.

Played RQ at West Lancashire back in June. This is a fantastic course and one I highly recommend to play. The facilities are excellent the people so friendly and the event itself perfectly organised. The layout is fairly easy to follow and the holes have a really enjoyable flow to them. The weather was warm and a soft breeze was blowing over the course. Some challenging holes and a great test of golf.
A great history to this club. Been working diligently on my game since then. A great course to go and play.

Course is in excellent condition well looked after and welcoming staff all around the club house. Very professional outfit run very well. That said, at £140 per round I don't see where the value for money comes from. Very expensive for a game of golf.

I played here at the end of September and the course was in fantastic condition considering the brutal summer we had it was faultless . Practice facilities are large and in excellent condition. The club professionals and the club manager Chris were very friendly and welcoming so much so I’m considering a membership at the course. Just to stress the quality I played at Royal st. George’s ( one of the Open Championship Courses) the week after and it looked like a local municipal in comparison to West Lancashire GC.
The starter was also very helpful as he noticed I was playing on my own and invited
