As a portfolio landlord, my experience with RENTGUARD have been poor. They are not reliable and service is pathetic. I had to chase multiple times for the update as i had to wait more than 7 days for the reference. If you rely on their service, you will definitely LOSE your business. I had to override or scrutinize their report carefully before making decision on prospective tenant's application. If you are a passive hands off landlord, you can not fully rely on their service or report. I had to ask for extra documents myself to check tenants affordability and landlord references etc.

As a tenant I used the system twice, never had a problem with my application, If i don't count that they are slow, customer service is painful lazy and amateur in a good day. However they are very good to give excuses and to take always the slowest way to get an answer. I think is an ideal service if you like to have a unreliable and slow service, and like to argue with mean people on the phone.

Terrible, terrible referencing agency. Use antiquated systems to reference which hinders anybody self-employed. Hung up on me on the phone twice, will not accept a work contract or payslips as proof of income, failed myself and my guarantor despite the fact both of us each can afford the rent 3 times over. If I could give a lower rating I would.

Formal letter arrived with many enclosures relating to my valued custom and an acquisition with the Gallagher group. Very confused as was not aware I was a customer! Called, waited for over 10 minutes for a connection and eventually advised that I was not on their client base. Asked for a call back from a Manager....never happened. Disgraceful waste of paper and abuse of a database.

Shocking. Used them back in 2017 but then changed as price went too high for 2018 only to find out that they had been renewing our policy each year at £42 a month with the renewal docs going to junk mail !! only I realised last month when finally set up my online banking. I have since asked for this too be investigated as we did cancel at the end of 2017 and we have no policy doc for 2018?? Still waiting on a response which I think il have to chase... the one star is because I have too!!!

Terrible terrible company! Unfortunately Openrent use these people as a partner so no choice but to use them.
Two representatives failed to understand my very basic issue regarding tenant referencing. After 30minutes on hold, the second representative proceeded to hang up on me after saying "Ok, one second".
Pathetic.

Cancelled my policy by letter without proper explanation only giving me 1 full working day to find a new insurer. Had to call to get the reason which was that a part of my home “could” be made self-contained. Nice work Rentguard, I’ll be looking elsewhere when my Block policy comes up in November, someone else can have my £2k.
