Elloughton Private Nursery With Little Acorns

The nursery's professional reputation for quality care and commitment to the development of children led to an increase in demand and, henceforth, the acquisition of detached premises, and present home, Little Acorns.

This building was equipped to the highest standard to cater for the needs of those children under the age of three and provided an exceptional setting for a nursery where children could spread their wings in a clean, safe and stimulating environment.We aim to provide children with the chance to grow in a 'homely' atmosphere that offers quality care and support to both them and their families.

The room also has several cots, beds and prams for those 'quieter moments'. The ratio of staff to children in this room is at least 1:3 to ensure a high level of care. Children participate in 'messy play' with water and paint, as well as exploring treasure baskets and enjoying music sessions. As we are located in such an idyllic village we also like to take the babies out for walks as well as playing with them in the 'baby garden'.

This room is designed to help children grasp important skills yet the emphasis is on PLAY. The room accommodates a house area, cosy book corner, sandpit and a quiet area. We always have floor toys and tables with an array of table top games and jigsaws. The room is regularly updated to ensure maximum stimulation and, although good fun, each toy is carefully selected to contribute to each child's progress.

The House consists of the downstairs 'play room' and the upstairs 'school room'. Children spend time in both rooms throughout the day. The House is used by all children over the age of 3. The staff-children ratio for this age range is 1:8 or 1:13. Staff, with both teaching and childcare qualifications, supervise carefully planned sessions designed to develop each child's social and educational skills.

The Out of School Club offers a drop off and pick up service to and from surrounding villages, including Welton, Brough, Elloughton and South Cave. The school age children occupy the 'House' section of the nursery, both upstairs and down, and the outdoor area. The children are provided with a fun yet relaxing environment where they can unwind after a long day at school.
