Services
Our 51 bedrooms are all equipped with ensuite facilities, colour television, direct dial telephones, and tea and coffee making facilities. Twenty one rooms are located in the historic main building and possess original features, whilst rooms in the annexe have a more contemporary feel, and provide easier access as due to planning restrictions we are unable to install a lift in the main house.
The White Hart Hotel is a lovely 16th century coaching inn with oak beams and open log fireplaces, complemented by a leisure club and relaxing spa. Our conservatory looks over the beautiful South Downs and rooftops of Lewes. The rich history of the hotel offers a traditional setting for your function and we have a variety of rooms to suit your event.
For centuries the White Hart Hotel has been a traditional meeting place, Thomas Paine the famous revolutionary formed the 'Headstrong club' here which continues to meet today. The White Hart has three conference rooms all with natural daylight including the historic Sheriff's room, the largest being the County suite which can seat up to 150 delegates.
William Verrel the celebrated 18th century chef originally owned the White Hart from 1737 to 1760 and he introduced French Cuisine to the British public, his recipe book is still in print today. Whilst his dishes may not sit comfortably with today's tastes we are proud to uphold the traditions of excellent food, drink and hospitality.
To help you unwind or keep up that fitness regime, Harts Leisure club offers complimentary facilities for hotel guests. The leisure club features a tropical themed swimming pool and spa bath, sauna and steam room together with a comprehensive range of gym equipment. Membership is also offered to local residents who can take out monthly, six monthly or annual membership packages.
