What a busy, and somewhat wet, week at preschool! Lots of rain and mud, and the children have loved every minute. We have enjoyed a Spring walk, explored new shapes we haven't spotted before and also celebrated our new log cabin! Ordered some months ago but finally in place. We appreciate times are still very difficult for many, and not all our families are able to return to preschool at this time.
We will be open from Tuesday to Friday, 9am to. It is with huge regret we are following the Governments directive to close our preschool at this time. We will miss you. This summer, we will be opening a NEW Summer Holiday Clubto help meet the needs of parents and carers in the community. Services
Whitchurch Pre-School is an OFSTED registered Pre-School, run from the village hall in Whitchurch Canonicorum. It is a beautiful West Dorset village, providing a great setting for the children to explore, play and learn in. Whitchurch has a fantastic village park right next to our Pre-School which we visit regularly, providing lots of extra fun outside space.
As a registered Charity Committee run Pre-School we rely heavily on donations in order to boost our funds, which help with the up keep of the Pre-School and to provide new resources for the children. We would like to thank the following organisations for the financial donations they have very kindly and generously given to us in the past.
We are very pleased with our online learning journeys! We create individual 'learning journeys' for your child through a piece of educational software called 'Tapestry'. You will receive an email telling you when a new observation or piece of work is available for you to view. This will enable you to follow your child's individual progress closely and you can reflect upon their achievements with your child.
The EYFS Curriculum sets out the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years of age. It states the recommendations and legal requirements that we are obliged to follow as an OFSTED inspected Pre-School. Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
We observe the children during play in order to make judgments about their abilities and continuous development against the curriculum. We make observations of different children on a daily. These are in the form of short notes about things that we notice the children doing in their play of significance to their achievement of curriculum statements.
