I had been told about Thorpeness by my golf tour operator, I think he under sold it. The hotel rooms. staff and food were excellent, clean and so comfortable. As for the golf, well I would suggest you have to try it for yourself. We hardly had a speck of mud on us and the inland links / woodland style was a proper test. Having said that we all played it better the second day. Worth every penny of the winter price.

We found a deal online to stay at Thorpness which included 2 rounds of golf each, a stay at the hotel, evening meal and breakfast. Literally from the very first phone call to Tracy to book the break, the booking out with Laura, the whole experience was fantastic.
The golf course was a challenge and required a steady head was amazing. Now officially the present Mrs. Edwards favourite golf course, has some wonderful holes. The greens were exceptional and the bunkers catching any stray shots.... Just a great golf course.
The hotel room, number 22, was lovely. A shower that looked a bit feeble turned

Beautiful setting. Surrounded by countryside and lakes and excellent setting for walks. Renowned golf course.
Rooms are mainly in satellite buildings. Rooms in the Lake side are somewhat tired and apparently due for a much needed refurb. Basic hospitality tray - why put Nescafé and PG Tips on a tray when aiming for a high end experience?......
The service was excellent throughout. Bar with a log fire that serves food most of the day. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was served here as well and great selection of food. Whilst sitting eating breakfast, a deer crossed

I have given this a 4 star mainly due to the golf which was our primary reason for our stay. The course was in great condition for November and a great challenge for my group ranging from 6 handicap to 25. The rooms were good but not sure they should be classed as "superior." Food looked great and sounded great but there were issues but we are not complainers so didn't bother. Even when quiet one of my friends had to breakfast alone due to over 20 minute wait for veggie breakfast. Reception area was generally un-staffed when there which wasn't great. The wait at the bar was quite ridiculous - need

From arriving for our 2 night 3 day stay, the service in the bar was extremely poor. We waited over 20 mins before we had someone take our order. This does improve of an evening due to an older guy who Marshall’s the staff well.
Although clean, the room are dated but still comfortable.
The major downfall of… Thorpeness is the restaurant, the staff and customer service. Evening meal, half of our group received mains prior to their starters, half had eaten both before the other had received their starters even though all were ordered together, not to

We stayed in a superior double which was ground floor with a private courtyard I loved the room so spacious and the garden area was just perfect both for us and our dogs. Breakfast was lovely and thought it… was good value for money Although it was very hot during our visit our room was perfect for sleeping and there was a fan provided We are looking forward to our next visit The village of Thorpeness was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay

We held our wedding at the golf club and had the best day ever. It was perfect from start to finish. Sarah-Jane and Lorraine brought all of our ideas to life so we had a truly unique day. The golf club is such a beautiful setting by the mere and having the mini golf was such fun for our guests. Dave the bar manager created such fantastic cocktails… and mock tails for us. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious and we even had a tasting session beforehand which was great. All of the staff work so hard. We will never forget our incredible wedding at the golf club

Great golf course . Was dissatisfied with the service in the bar . Ordered breakfast and coffees . Food was served but no coffee turned up . I went to enquire about the coffees after we had finished our food only to be told that the coffee machine was broken . Would have been nice to have been offered an alternative drink or even find a kettle to make an instant coffee , instead was just given a refund . Poor show on a chilly morning .
