Services
Barry Row and Richard Scott set up the firm in the early 1980s having first met at McKeags as articled clerks. Originally based in St. Nicholas' Buildings in the centre of Newcastle the firm quickly expanded and opened a branch in Church Street, Consett and later at Wellwood Street in Amble. The Newcastle office has been based at 98 West Road since 2002.
We offer fixed fees for obtaining a Grant of Probate and winding up the Estate and these fixed fees vary depending upon the size of the Estate, the amount of work which needs to be done and the length of time it takes to complete all matters in relation to the Estate. Our Probate Department covers all aspects of dealing with a person's assets after they have died, as well as assistance with probate and inheritance tax matters.
From child custody to divorce proceedings: we represent and advise you in all family law matters. We are experienced in the sensitivity required in this legal area and work to ensure a reasonable, fair outcome in your best interests. We are experienced in the particular needs of elderly clients, and in providing sensitive advice to families.
You will also have to pay Stamp Duty or Land Tax. The amount depends on the purchase price of your property and whether you own any other properties. How long it will take from your offer being accepted until you can move in to your house will depend on a number of factors. On average the process takes about 8 - 10 weeks.
Family law deals with legal relationships between persons who are connected through marriage, civil union, family and kinship or through guardianship, tutelage or legal supervision. The complex nature of this area makes it advisable to use the specialist services of a solicitor. We will represent you both in and out of court.
