Our reputation for good quality services has been built up over many years, the first partnership having been formed in 1812, and our clients tell us that being able to reach us and get a response when they need it is one of the things which sets us apart. At Ware & Kay, it is extremely important to us that we provide you with an excellent service.
Did you know, for example, that a later marriage revokes any existing Will you may have made? We can help ensure that any young children are looked after and that you avoid any surprises, upsets or the paying of unnecessary Inheritance Tax. We offer fixed fees for straightforward Wills and amendments plus a reduced price for couples instructing us simultaneously.
Many people who do not make a Will believe that assets will go to their nearest and dearest. Sadly, this is not always the case. If you do have a Will but have not reviewed it for a while, it is important that you do take a look at your Will to ensure that it still correctly reflects your wishes and also takes account of any changes in your circumstances.
Dealing with a death and the accompanying administrative responsibilities can be difficult enough to manage. However, if someone has died without leaving a Will, you can feel at a total loss. Here we address some common concerns that arise when a family member dies 'intestate'.

For reliable advice at a challenging time, speak with our compassionate probate lawyers today on 01904 716000 (York), 01937 583210 (Wetherby) or 01653 692247 (Malton), or use our online contact form.Ordinarily, a Will names an executor (or executors) to carry out the probate process.
Whether you are an executor or an administrator of a deceased person's estate, a beneficiary or someone who should receive part of an estate, our expert team of solicitors is on hand to advise you on all aspects. Our specialist contentious probate solicitors understand that disputes of this kind can cause a great deal of worry and heartache at what is already a difficult time.

Holly and Gill in the Conveyancing team oversaw the sale of our property. We can’t recommend them highly enough.
In the face of the other party’s obstinate and obstructive solicitors who repeatedly asked baffling and unreasonable questions - sometimes several times over - Gill and Holly kept calm and, more importantly kept us calm. They did everything possible to expedite the process, systematically working to remove blockages and answer queries, avoided legal jargon, always kept their word, were efficient and professional throughout and ultimately dragged the situation to a mutually beneficial

Ware & Kay recently prepared a will for me. A job I had been putting off for a very long time as I thought it was going to be complicated. They (Ian and his team) made it completely straightforward and stress free. They also turned it around quickly. I liked dealing with all the people at W&K ... they were friendly and helpful and not at all intimidating. Would definitely recommend.

I sold my house with them. They added £100 to the agreed price due to what they claimed was extra work needed, even though I was only selling and not buying. The sale had proceeded smoothly so I have no idea what extra work could have been. They knew I was leaving the country as soon as the house was sold and hence would be in no position to query the additional cost.

At every stage I was treated with patience and care. All the staff involved with my case we courteous and helpful and despite my not pursuing the case to it's conclusion they could not have been more kind and supportive throughout the whole process.

Steven and his fellow partners operate a friendly law firm in York where their approach is professional, practical and jargon free. I have on many occasions contacted Steven and his firm for advice on various legal matters and he has always been happy to listen and provide sound advice. When we instructed his firm to act on our behalf his team were prompt and flexible and expedite the job ahead of the other parties involved. I highly recommend Steven and his firm.
