Well done! you have found your way to a super golf club with an excellent course and clubhouse facilities.

Hi, I'm Steve Hine, the incoming Captain for 2021. Until a few years ago I was playing and involved with other sports, but then I caught the golfing bug. I joined the Park and found what i was looking for, an excellent historic course, a friendly club with good banter, a well appointed clubhouse, plenty of competitions, matches and away days, great value and not too posh.! I'm relatively new to golf but love it here.
Services
By 1917 they had become well established and elected a Committee of twelve men. Mr James Yates became the 1st President: he was succeeded by his son (James Jnr) - between them the saw 63 years of gradual improvements. In 1936 the Club moved from the original pavilion into a room at the new 'Whitehouse' building until they acquired the cedar timber building which is still an important part of the existing Club.
The Park Golf Club plays on the Southport Municipal Golf Course, which has the distinction of being England's first Municipal Links Course (1912), was designed by one of the world's most renowned golf course architects - Harry Shapland Colt.

The Park GC card is different to the Municipal Golf Course card, it varies in length: Park Golf Club Club's Back Blocks 6500 yards, Municipal Boards 6249 yards, White Tees 6169, Yellow Tees 5873 yards and Red Tees (Ladies & Junior) 5233 yards.Whilst the WHITE TEES move, they always maintain a qualifying medal distance.
All members and guests to the Park Golf Club are required to conform to the rules of the R&A, the Park Golf Club and rules/conditions laid down by the Sefton's Southport Municipal Golf Course. In particular abide by the 'Conditions of Play' as displayed outside the Pro-Shop. A round of golf for a 'four ball' should not take in excess of 3 hours 45 minutes.
This hole is named after Bobby Leigh who caddied for Peter Thompson from aged 17 until he finished, he also caddied for Greg Norman. Look straight ahead for the flag. Provided you stay on the fairway the approach to the green is relatively straight forward. There are two memorial headstones placed at the back-right of the green in memory of some of our past members.
This hole is named after Silverdale Mountain in the Lake District National Park. On a clear day you can see it on the horizon from the raised tees (if you have good eyes). From the tee you can see all problems. Long drives can reach the green so allow players in front to clear the green (if applicable).

The course is in ok condition , tee boxes and greens need a bit of work , fairways are decent, some of the heavier rough has been cut back which is good , disappointed that the clubhouse is members only and got stuck behind a four ball with only three sets of clubs between them

This club is very cliquey and is not run in a friendly fashion. As a result it's gone down from a membership of 300 or so when I was there to about 80. The alt golf club is a better option if you're looking for a first club to join although the general maintenance of the Southport golf links is such that you would be better looking and travelling further afield.

Great course adjacent to the sea. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and patrons. 100% recommend if you have a spare 2.5 hours in Southport.

Great golf course for a municipal. Needs a bit better upkeep but that's not down to the lad's working there as they are totally understaffed but that's the way it is nowadays.
