Hillside Golf Club is situated in Southport, the home of "Englands Golf Coast" which boasts England's finest stretch of coastal links. Hillside has hosted many amateur and professional tournaments in it's illustrious history and was recently selected by the European Tour to stage the 2019 British Masters.

The clubhouse dates from the early 1930's, and in line with similar developments at other clubs in the area, was built in a style that resembled a private residence. Extensive re-development has created a wonderful building to match the world class links. Congratulations to Sam Potter who won the 2021 Hillside Pines Trophy with an excellent three under par total of 141.

Course Tour Report

The club has a track record of staging some of the highest profile professional and amateur tournaments including the 1982 PGA Championship (When Tony Jacklin defeated Bernhard Langer in a Play Off) and twice the Amateur and Ladies Amateur Championships. A regular Final Qualifying venue for the Open, Hillside has recently been chosen by the European Tour to host the 2019 British Masters.

Had a great meal, the main course sauce was brilliant filled by a tasty pudding. Wine was very good as well. Also they have traditional hand pulled bitter. Sorry was not involved with golf this visit.

Went with a group of people for a Christmas meal, delicious. Would recommend, other reviewers found the drinks expensive, my experience, small Peroni, about average for the area. Would advise obtaining some Peroni glasses, they have a widget. The evening rounded off with a great singer guitarist, modesty forbids, OK arm twisted, it was me.

I had a fantastic day at Hillside GC today. The course is spectacular and was presented in excellent condition. The warm welcome from the Professional staff and catering staff was very friendly. I can’t speak highly enough about Hillside. One of the best golfing experiences I’ve ever had. Thank you.

Back 9 was phenomenal. Honestly some of the best golf I've ever played, so enjoyable. As a club the members were incredibly welcoming & couldn't have done enough for us. I hope to get back in the near future!!!

Fantastic golf course, looks like it's on the improvement too. everything was so welcoming from the bar staff, to the starters and pro shop staff your course and members a re a true credit to the golfing world

Had the pleasure of playing here and we weren’t disappointed. Fantastic in a word. Great layout, with some really interesting holes to keep you focused. Probably the best course I’ve played in over 35 years of playing golf. Play this and you won’t be disappointed - I’d say it was better than it’s better known neighbour !

Just a great experience for any golfer. A links challenge, which as the rough had been allowed to grow and a stiff breeze showed a few of it's teeth. The fairways were however sufficiently wide to tempt you. Greens were impeccable but not at there fastest. Made to feel really welcome. Enjoyed every minute.

Great links golf course, just next to Royal Birkdale and Southport & Ainsdale. Fantastic conditions even in March. Great layout, and will host British Masters later this year. Rich in animal life as well. Will definately come back to this course.

Visited for the Betfred Golf tournament, was there for the full day. Good atmosphere as the day progressed, food was good, activities in the village were good to pass the time. First time visiting anything like this, or a golf day in general, so was pleased with the day. Would highly recommend for a day if you was thinking about going!

Went to watch the British Masters golf tournament and thought the course was superb, need to go and play it now!! Next door to Royal Birkdale but more scenic in my opinion.
