Stub-ton Hall is a 19th cen-tury coun-try house set on the Lin-colnshire and Not-ting-ham-shire bor-der just a short drive from the his-tor-ic mar-ket town of Newark. When my late husband Kent and I first walked up the drive, Stubton looked sad and forlorn. The shutters were closed, the park was overgrown and, even worse, dotted around the elegant, old house were the most incongruous 1950s dormitories.
Kent went ballistic! We dreamed that it would be great to buy this place, knock down those horrible eyesores and make the Hall sparkle again, and so we set out on an adventure. The things we first loved about Stubton - its unspoilt rural location away from noisy roads, its lovely park, and its elegant rooms - are the very aspects that make it the perfect place for swanky house parties, smart nuptials or an important business meeting.

Services
We think our 25 bedrooms are pretty cool in a traditional, yet contemporary country house way. Our style nods to the past without looking like our grannies designed the rooms. They've got interesting wallpapers, oil paintings or old prints on the walls, independently controlled heating and air conditioning, and lovely views over the grounds.

Lovely place, lovely views with a random roaming pheasant thrown in. There's one tree when you are out having a cigarette that looks like it's been sat on by a giant, forming what looks like a green and brown mushroom. I was very lucky to have been able to visit as it was a very swanky do. Bar staff seemed a bit rusty but overall a great experience
